Nelisiwe and Sizwe are cuddling in bed, watching a movie.

Sizwe kisses her neck and caresses her thighs. “We have to take our relationship to another level now,” says Sizwe.

“What do you mean, my love?”

“I mean we need to do what lovers do. We need to have sex.”

“But Sizwe I told you I want to keep my virginity. You know my situation being the daughter of a pastor is tough. I have people who look up to me back home.”

“I hear you but all these people you are so worried about are not here. What we do will stay in this room.”

“I’m scared. What if I fall pregnant?”

“That won’t happen. Trust me.”

“I need some time to think about it.”

“Nelisiwe, I have needs as a man. You as my girlfriend need to satisfy those needs.” Sizwe’s tone has suddenly changed.

Nelisiwe can hear that he is giving her an ultimatum. That is why she agrees to have sex with him. Their relationship grows stronger after they start having sex. They are always together.

One afternoon Nelisiwe is in her room when she receives an email from her lecturer. She hasn’t submitted many assignments and is at the risk of failing her courses.

“Dear Jesus!” Nelisiwe blurts out.

“What’s wrong?” asks Zandile.

“I just got an email from my lecturer. I may lose my bursary if I don’t pick up my socks.”

“You really have to concentrate on your studies. Are you living with Sizwe now?”

“No. All my clothes are here and you know that, Zandile.”

“You need to change your ways. I’m not saying stop being in a relationship. Look out for yourself: you are doing your first year, Sizwe is doing his final year. He won’t be here next year, while you will be redoing your first year if you are not careful.” says Zandile.

“Sizwe won’t leave me. Why is everyone jealous of our relationship? Or you want us to break up so you can have him?”

“I have a man. I was just trying to help you.”

“You are not my mother, Zandile. Just stay out of my business!”

Nelisiwe storms out and bangs the door. She takes a walk around campus and ends up at the sports field. She sits at the pavilion benches and takes a deep breath. She can’t believe her eyes because it is definitely Sizwe who is kissing another girl at the far end of another bench.

“Sizwe!” Nelisiwe screams.

Sizwe turns to see Nelisiwe’s tear-filled eyes. He leaves the other girl and runs to Nelisiwe.

“It’s not what you think, Neli. Please calm down, my love,” says Sizwe.

“How can you do this to me? You never loved me!”

“I love you, Neli. I’ll always loved you.”

“People warned me about you! You are a snake!”

“She doesn’t mean anything to me. It was just a kiss. Stop being immature! There’s nothing going on between us, just relax.”

“No, Sizwe. It’s over between us,” says Nelisiwe.
