Awethu is 16 and, as always, his family celebrates with unusual traditions that make him feel like a freak. It doesn’t help that he is different: taller, stronger, darker than them, with a weird skin condition that means he can’t get wet. Yet he’d love a good soak, learn to swim. Sometimes, it feels as if the water is calling to him.
