A boy spends his days in the veld keeping his familyβs sheep safe from the jackals. The trouble is that he longs to talk to somebody. One day, he pretends that the jackals are after his sheep, and calls for help. When the villagers come running to help him, he feels less lonely, but the more he lies, the more complicated everything gets. In the end he is forced to learn a lesson.
