By the end of the week, the amount of photographers following Carly had depleted. She reckoned the press had finally realised that a teenage girl walking to and from school was hardly breaking news.

Taylor had SMSd to say he wanted to see her again. She couldn’t believe it. Hollywood stars didn’t just show up out of the blue, especially not in Lansdowne, an area of Cape Town newsworthy for all the wrong reasons.

Carly walked to her next class feeling as if her life had just turned into a fairy tale. Any minute an evil witch was going to appear with a poisoned apple.

Crystal was waiting at Carly’s desk. Carly noticed that she was wearing a lot more make up than usual.

Crystal smiled sweetly. “We haven’t hung out in a while. Why don’t you come by my house after school for some quality time?”

Carly studied her best friend’s face. Crystal looked genuine, so she had no reason to believe otherwise.

A camera flashed outside the window, so Carly didn’t see Crystal’s satisfied smirk as she walked away.

If she had it might have been able to foresee what was about to happen.

QUESTION: Would you trust Crystal?
