You are probably wondering who was this man standing in front of me. He was Sean my choir leader, he is the one who convinced me that I can sing. Well he was more than that. This story started two years ago.

It was late after church and we had just had a great service. I was on top of the moon not because it was a great service but because I was going overseas. Yes, yes! I was going overseas. I needed someone to stay at my house while I was away and my Pastor had promised to find someone. After the service I went to check on that.

“Pastor, did you manage to get someone to look after my house?” I asked.

“Yes, he will be with us in a short while,”

“Here are the keys to my house,” I said handing him the spare keys. “I have a meeting to rush to,” and out I went.

I was having a meeting with my employees. I owned three taxis and a clothing shop in my hometown. Every year we met to discuss a way forward. They were not just my employees but my business partners too.

I got home and found them waiting for me.

“Hey everyone, let’s go inside. I have some very exciting news,” I opened the house and we all went. I directed them to sit at the table in the dining hall.

“Thank you everyone for coming, I will make it very short,” I said while passing envelopes to everyone. Then I heard the door opening. Who might it be, I thought to myself.

“Hello,” a male voice called. “Anyone in the house?” I excused myself and rushed to the door.

“Oh, it’s you Sean, what brings you here?”

“I’m the guy who will be looking after your house,”

“Oh, come this side, we’re having a meeting.” We went to the dining room and I introduced him. “Everyone this is Sean,” I said looking at him. “Sean this is Thina, my cousin sister and these are my drivers. Sean will be joining us for the meeting,”

Sean found himself a seat and settled down.

“Everyone open your envelopes. In there we have things that we are going to do next year. And also your bonuses,”

“Ms P, mine has a letter saying I’m accepted to study accounting,” said Cebo.

“Yes Cebo, that is what you are doing next year, studying. You’ll be helping me with the business books I think it’s only fair to promote you. Thina, you will be studying marketing. I’m opening a new clothing shop in two months and I will need your marketing skills.”

Everyone was excited and couldn’t wait to share the news with their loved ones. I closed the meeting and everyone went home.

“Wow I didn’t know you were Ms CEO,” joked Sean when everyone had gone home.

“Well, I’m not CEO yet. I just own a small business. What would you like for super?” I asked as I headed to the kitchen.

“You can cook too? I knew you were a shy little girl. Look at you acting all grown up,”

“Ha that’s so funny, you would know everything about me by just teaching me music?” I laughed a little.

“Well nice to meet you then. Where do I sign up to be the husband?” he joked.

When he said that, I felt butterflies in my stomach, but I ignored them. I mean he was just joking, there was no need to be like this. We sat and ate. It was quite strange, I mean we didn’t talk that much at church and now he was at my house eating with me. I felt special.

During super we didn’t do much talking. He just kept on looking at me when I wasn’t looking. And the butterflies didn’t stop too.

After super he helped me with the dishes and we went to watch a movie in the living room.

“Let’s watch Fast and Furious 5, it’s my favorite one,” I suggested as we looked through a couple of DVDs to watch.

“You also like guy movies too? Who are you and what did you do to my shy Phelo?”

“There is a lot you don’t know about me,” I said managed to say as I sat down.

At this point I was a mess; my knees were jelly and I couldn’t breathe with all the commotion happing in my stomach. Why was he being so nice? He had just called me his shy Phelo. Maybe my mind was just playing trick with me.

I didn’t even watch the movie, I don’t know what happened. I must’ve been more tired than I thought because I woke up in his arms. Is this some kind of a dream, I asked myself. I just wished I didn’t have to wake up.

The way he was holding me so closely, just look at his eyes would kill me. I shifted a bit but didn’t dare to open my eyes. I didn’t know how I would deal with the embarrassment. He must have figured that I was uncomfortable on the couch, because he carried me off it.

“There you go,” he said as he put me down in my bed and covered me. After he left I just lay there, thinking.

In the morning I woke up very early. I hadn’t really slept, I was thinking about my trip to Japan. And in the centre of my thoughts was the man in my house. How could the pastor send him of all the men?

I just remembered how my friends and I used to talk about him. We were actually kind of afraid of him, intimidated. He was always so serious and so sure of himself. But yesterday he was all joking and.

“Morning, where are you going so early? Isn’t your plane at 6:30?” his voice distracted me from my thoughts.

“I woke up to make breakfast for you,”

“That’s nice thanks. Don’t miss your plane,”

“No, I won’t,”

When we said goodbye he planted a kiss on my forehead.

My stay was short and amazing. I had managed to put him out of my mind and focus on my work. I inboxed him on Facebook on my way back. I was in New York and I had to let him know I wouldn’t be coming back on Friday, as planned.

Hey, sorry I won’t make it this Friday, something came up and I can’t come home. I’m very sorry for the inconvenience. Ms P.
