“Does he think we are fools?” Farai said angrily.

“Maybe he doesn’t want to be blamed.” Rufaro spoke calmly.

Charlotte moved her hands. She opened her eyes and removed the oxygen mask.

They gathered closely to her bed.

“Where am I?” she asked confused.

Farai told her, she found her not breathing and took her to hospital. Max entered holding flowers.

“Flowers for the lady,” he said smiling.

“Thank you Rufaro, if I went home I would have died. Thank you all,” she spoke with a weak voice.

“Your bae was here,” Farai said chuckling.

“Who? Whose bae?” She asked concerned sitting up straight.

“Henry. Who else?” Farai said.

“Maybe he cares. It’s a good thing isn’t it?” Max said putting the flowers on the table.

“That guy doesn’t know what is care or love,” Rufaro said.

Charlotte got bored, why don’t they say anything positive. All she wanted was a peaceful time with positive thinking.

“Thank you for coming. Can I sleep?” She said sadly.

Farai and Rufaro were shocked with what Charlotte said. Max headed out. Her head was going round and round making her dizzy.

“You’re really chasing us out?” she asked.

The doctor entered and read some files on the table. She checked Charlotte’s pulse, counting and looking at the watch.

“I think you should let the patient rest,” Doctor Matame said.

Rufaro and Farai said their goodbyes and left.

“Are you OK?” she asked Charlotte.

“I will be fine doc,” she answered irritated.

Doctor Matame left, she sighed as if she felt relieved. After having her lunch, Henry entered. It came as a surprise to her.

“What are you doing here?” she asked. Henry came close and kissed her lips. She didn’t move but stared at him.

“Baby, I love you. I know we fight but let’s start again,” he said holding her hands.

“I can’t…” she said and he stopped her talking with his fingers on her lips.

“Please don’t listen to your friends. I love you. I am serious,” he said.

Charlotte was now confused, maybe this time, he can change. If she leaves him, she’ll never see if he really means it. They spoke about their promises which they made.

“We will stay together until God separates us,” he said it again.

Charlotte felt flattered. She remembered she loves Henry, but Henry didn’t love Charlotte, he just wanted her to give him everything he needed with fake love. Henry was a womaniser and Charlotte didn’t know. When she saw it, she didn’t want to believe it until it happened several times. People called her a Blesser and all sorts of names.

“Promise me you won’t leave me,” he said kissing her cheek.

She nodded and he left. She stared in space wondering if he really meant it. She was confused. Henry must be a good player who liked playing games. He seemed good at games. A good actor too. Her friends were always right, Henry was a crook who made other people fools.

Charlotte got discharged after the night passed. Doctor Matame told her to take it easy. She went to work after resting a day at home. Everyone was happy to see her at work. Henry kissed her, their workmates were screaming and shouting “Woo!”

She had to see if he meant it.
