In the south-west of Africa there was the Kambuwa kingdom. Its king was Kalijoza and he was crippled. The king was born without any difficulty, but his twin brother tried to kill him to take the throne after the death of their father. The deceased king had two twin sons, Kalijoza and Kalikokha. Though they were twins, one could see that Kalizoja came to earth before Kalikokha.

Kalikokha was born a few minutes later on that unforgettable day the loyal couple was blessed with twin sons. After their father died, the elders and villagers were all aware that Kalijoza, being the elder son, was to replace the deceased king. It was according to their customs that the eldest son of the king, or a young brother to the king, had to take the throne after the death of the king.

However, this did not please Kalikokha. Greed for leadership drove him to plot against his brother. One night while Kalijoza was returning home, he was badly beaten by some men who were sent by Kalikokha. Seeing him lying on the ground without any movement, the men thought he was dead, so they left him in a nearby forest. Two days passed and Kalijoza had not been found anywhere. Encouraged by the queen, the elders sent more powerful men to look for him but they couldn’t find him.

On the third day of his disappearance, some hunters found him in the middle of the forest. They took him to the palace while he was unconscious. Upon seeing him, the whole village gathered and started mourning him, since they knew he would have made a good king just like his father had. A few minutes later, traditional healers reached the spot to see the condition of Kalijoza. To everyone’s surprise, Kalijoza was alive though he was badly wounded and almost unrecognisable.

How he survived surprised the whole village. He had been beaten so badly that the herbs failed to get everything back to normal, so even though he survived he was crippled. His legs were badly broken so he couldn’t walk after being healed. It was a day of great joy and happiness in the Kambuwa kingdom as the awaited King Kalijoza was sworn in as king. Seeing their crippled king, everyone suspected Kalikokha. His delay to send men to search for his lost brother was seen by all villagers.

They suspected him of plotting the attack against his brother for the throne but there was not enough evidence to stand against him. They all waited for the truth to come out. The truth will always come out in a way, it was known. A month later, as Kalijoza was serving as king, Kalikokha went mad. He walked tirelessly in the streets, shouting and accusing everyone he met for failing to kill Kalijoza so that he could became king. In his shouts he even mentioned the names of men who he had sent on that kill mission. He accused them of being incompetent. The whole village knew it was the ancestors who had revealed what happened to the king through him, therefore they arrested all the men mentioned by the mad Kalikokha.
