Tyler

After school I waited for Chris outside, I saw Ana with Jessie a couple of benches over from where I was going to sit. For a moment, Ana and I made eye contact. I gave her a knowing smile.

I knew she liked him, the way she leaned her head back and closed her eyes when he made her laugh told everything. She smiled at me before continuing to talk to Jessie. She knew I had a date with Chris; I had told her in the morning when we walked to school.

I sat on my bench for another five minutes before Chris finally walked out of the school, something hidden behind his back. I wasn’t really interested in it. I just wanted to know where we were going. Whatever he was holding behind his back got switched to his right hand as he secretly held mine with his left. He led me out of the school.

“Where are we going?” I asked. Chris turned left as we reached the corner. He gave me a mischievous smile.

“You’ll find out,” we started to walk to his house.

Was that where we were going? Were we just going to cuddle in the living room, eat junk food, and watch Batman? I wouldn’t mind that, I thought to myself.

We approached his house and saw his dad on the driveway.

“Dad, can I use your car?” he shouted. I heard a shout back, but couldn’t make it out.

Chris went inside his house and came out quickly. He walked over to his Dad’s car and I followed. We got in. I turned to Chris to see him holding a rose and smiling on the driver’s seat.

“This is for you, Ty,” he said.

I smiled brightly before taking the single rose from his hand and placing my lips on his sweetly. A warm feeling spread throughout my body as I closed my eyes. When Chris pulled away, he started the car with the biggest smile on his face.

The rest of the ride was quiet, except for my asking where we were going and Chris not telling me.

We pulled up to our destination: a nature park.

“How’d you know? I love nature parks!” I exclaimed and he laughed.

“Your mom told me when I asked her about somewhere you always wanted to go. This place just so happened to be in the area,” Chris opened the door and stepped out. He walked over to my side of the car and opened it for me. I blushed he offered his hand to help me get down.

“You’re so amazing,” I said as we walked through one of the trails holding hands. It was so beautiful, the nature all around us.

We walked for a while until we came to a picnic spot.

There was a blanket spread out on the ground, surrounded by trees. We sat down on the blanket, close together. Chris grabbed two Caprisuns and handed one to me. I took it with trembling hands and looked into Chris’s eyes. They were a kind of dark blue, and his black hair really made them pop out. They were the kind of eyes you could get lost in.

Silently, we watched the snow fall. It was winter, but it barely ever snowed here, so it was special.

“I love you, you know that, right?” Chris’s voice whispered in my ear, his lips touching my ear when they moved. I closed my eyes and smiled. “I love you more than all the stars in all the universes, more than anything, Ty.” He whispered.

He was just so perfect. Other people might not have thought so, but I did. Everything about him was perfect, even his imperfections; if anything, they made him more beautiful.

“You guys are so cute,” Ana said, standing next to us with a camera. Jessie came out from behind a tree, where they were hiding.

“I thought you guys were going somewhere today?” Chris said, looking half amused and half annoyed. Ana laughed.

“We followed you guys so I could get a picture of you together on your first date,” she said. “We’re going to go now,” she said and awkwardly left.

We laughed it off and continued just forgot about it. By them we realized it was late the sun was already down. I frowned. My curfew was at ten and it was still 8:30.

How could time pass by that quickly? We started cleaning up the picnic. By the time I got home, it was 9:30.

“So, I guess I’ll see you tomor…” he started to say but I cut him off as I connected my lips with his.

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” I whispered, and got out of the car.

I mouthed ‘I love you’, and he did it back. I walked slowly up to the front door. My dad’s car wasn’t in the driveway, but my mother’s was, and as soon as I walk into the door, she was there.

“Give me all the details,” she said, smiling.
