“Father, in the mighty name of Jesus…”
Simba turned his head and sighed when he heard Lisa pray at night before silence ruled his room. But in the dark kingdom there was thunder and lightning. Tariro knew who the cause was.
“I told you to let that boy go,” the god complained.
Tariro bowed her head in shame. Her heart pounded with anger but she controlled it and thought of her plans in motion.
A bird chirping at the window had awoken Simba. He yawned and rubbed his eyes. He sat on the bed and looked at his phone. Boom! He threw the phone down on the floor. Tariro’s image and video appeared on the screen.
He ran to the kitchen, frightened, and alarmed Lisa who was cleaning. Her heart beat fast in confusion.
“What is wrong?” she questioned him gently.
She put the broom down and rubbed her hands on her dress. Simba pointed to his room, shivering, and murmured words she didn’t want.
Lisa rushed in courageously and looked everywhere but saw nothing. Finally she saw the phone on the floor but it was dead.
“What is happening?” she asked quietly, and returned to Simba. He sat on the sofa, worried and breathing harshly, his eyes wide.
“You need water to calm you down,” she said, and poured him some.
She rubbed his back and he soon fell asleep on her lap. Luckily it was the weekend. She turned on the TV, switching channels. She wanted to be alert when he woke up. Before she could turn down the volume, there was a loud noise from one of the programmes, and Simba jumped up from her lap. His eyes rolled back and his face changed expression. He opened the door and rushed out, running as fast as he could and leaving Lisa confused and worried.
She knelt down to pray for her lover. She didn’t know what words to say because she didn’t know what was happening. She believed evil ruled the world though.
“God, please help Simba, I don’t know what is happening with him.”
She palmed both her heads and cried. A thought of calling someone came into her mind. Only Maggie could understand this. She grabbed her phone, full of hope. She dialled the number and it was answered after two rings.
“Makoti, how are you? Hope you are good,” said Maggie, calmly.
“Ummh, something is happening with Simba, I don’t know what,” said Lisa, her voice cracking.
“Oh damn, the darkness will never leave him.”
Linda had a lot of questions but the call was already dropped. She sat staring into space, thinking of what Maggie could have meant. Maybe she knew what was happening, but then why wouldn’t she let her know? Lisa was more worried. She knelt down to pray again.
“My God, my father, please help Simba,” she said, swallowing.
In her heart, she feared for Simba if he was bewitched. In her mind, she was worried that he was self-destructive. As she declared the scriptures, her racing mind was filled with hope and happiness.
There was a knock on her door and she jumped up. Maybe Simba was back. When she opened it, Maggie was at the door with Simba, who looked restless. He had grass on his head and dust on his face.
Tell us: Do you think Maggie could be the one to save Simba?
