Simba had already forgotten about Tariro, especially now that he knew he was chasing rainbows. His interest was in Lisa but he hadn’t seen her or contacted her since their last encounter. He had been busy with work but he promised himself he would give her a call when he finished that day.
Once home, he relaxed on his bed after having Streetwise for dinner. He called Lisa’s number but it rang and rang till it broke off, unanswered. He wondered if it was her number after all. He sighed. Maybe she was with her boyfriend, he thought. He covered his head with a pillow and screamed.
Moments later he felt vibrations near him but he ignored them. The vibrations persisted. He thought it was noise from the neighbours again who loved blasting music. Then he realised it was his phone.
“Hello?” he answered, without checking the identity of the caller.
“Hello, you called me,” a sweet, smooth voice said. Her voice was like a fine melody to the soul. He looked at the screen and saw it was Lisa. He stood up and his heart pumped up with joy.
“How are you? It’s me, Simba,” he said.
“Simba…Simba who?” she said calmly as if she had forgotten about him. “Oh, the guy I gave my number? How are you?”
“I am okay,” he said, relieved. He smiled as if he had seen her beauty and shyness.
“Thanks for calling me, I work too much and I need a distraction,” she chuckled.
“I am sorry I was disturbing…I just missed you,” he said gently. He felt his heart lurch when he heard her breathe softly.
“No, darling…You weren’t disturbing. Why can’t we rest tonight and have lunch tomorrow?” she said.
He wanted to jump for joy. Did she just ask me to go on a date with her? Simba thought to himself.
“Yes…That’s a plan, where and what time?” he asked.
“I will send you a message tomorrow morning,” she said. “Have a good night, darling.”
His heart beat faster when he heard the word ‘darling’. She talked to him as if they had been dating forever. He smiled and threw himself on the bed. He would have a peaceful sleep and good dreams tonight. He smiled as he dozed off with his shoes on. Lisa was making him crazy like never before. He felt he needed her like we need oxygen to live.
Their first date was adventurous: Lisa kept blushing and he kept flattering. They had their first kiss, and he loved her soft, delicate lips and couldn’t stop kissing her. They had already forgotten that they were in public.
“Someone stole my heart, I must report them to the police,” he said staring into her sexy eyes.
“What?…You should report that thief…” She wasn’t sure what he had said and let out a blast of laughter moments later.
“You stole my heart,” he said rubbing her hand with his fingers.
“So you want me arrested?” she asked, looking at him shyly.
He kissed her hand then his phone rang. It was his boss.
“Simba, where are you? I’ve been looking for you. Do you know what time it is? You can’t have lunch till 3pm!” he shouted.
“Sorry, sir, I will be there now now,” Simba said quickly, and cut the call. Lisa was looking at the other diners and he kissed her cheek.
“Baby, I will text you, you can visit me later,” he said, and hurried off.
Tariro was fuming by the door but he didn’t see her as he rushed out of the restaurant. She watched Lisa sitting all by herself.
“He is mine…You will not succeed in whatever,” she hissed in her devilish voice.
A waiter passed her and thought he heard her talk.
“Ma’am, can I help you?” he asked politely.
She pushed him, a flash of light followed, and she disappeared. The waiter was confused and checked all around him. He knew he had seen a light flashing – or it was a vision?
