Under the deep water of Nyathi the mermaids were mourning one lost life. The god and other elder mermaids sat down in a meeting held in the underworld. There was a loud echo that was making the world above shake and thunder.

“The rain is coming,” said one boy at a stall as he packed his stuff into a box so he could hide from the storm ahead. The sky was clear, showing no sign of rain.

“Maybe it’s the sound of stones breaking,” said someone else.

Other humans thought it was nature, not knowing what was happening in the underworld.

“She didn’t listen and I warned her,” the god said, tears dropping like raindrops. She faced away so they wouldn’t see her. She wiped her tears with a leaf.

“She deserves it! Our world would have been destroyed if that girl kept praying, if she wanted to fight our forces, but fortunately she was fighting Tariro,” an elder woman said, smashing the wall with her fist. The elders nodded their heads.

“She wanted to destroy us,” another woman said, throwing her hands in the air.

“Who is going to take her place? The girls are not powerful. How will we reach the world again? We need to have power on the land also!” another shouted.

The elders looked at each other and murmured.

“It will be difficult. Maybe we have to leave the world for now,” the god said, swallowing and wiping tears from her face again.

“You are right, Majesty…We need to focus on keeping our kingdom or we could be destroyed in a flash,” the first elder woman said.

They all agreed on the plan by nodding their heads and they backed off from the world for a little time. They planned on attacking when it least expected.

Simba was normal and everything was going well in his life. His relationship with Lisa was blossoming. He wanted Lisa to be his partner for life. They spent their nights together and he had no hiccups, he was happy and relaxed. He was promoted at work and his relationship with God grew bolder. He felt blessed and victorious. He attended church with Lisa every Sunday and did Bible studies. He was never lost again.

“I will never sleep with a strange woman…Lisa is still a virgin, I’ll have to wait for her,” he said to himself one day after work.

He now understood what sexual immorality was and how he had to protect his body. He decided to stick to God and be on Lisa’s side and get rid of the strangers in his life. It wasn’t good to be with someone he didn’t know anything about. He stopped drinking and going to bars. There was light on the brighter side he choose.

“Baby, are you praying?” Lisa asked.

“I am,” he said shyly. He always felt embarrassed about what Tariro did to him.

“Baby, you must have a relationship with God daily, meaning you must listen to God when he speaks to you…” she began.

“Does God speak to us?” he asked curiously.

“Yes, he talks to you. Just listen and obey,” she smiled.

They sat in the lounge at her house. She served dinner and they ate quietly.

“That boy thinks he won. I will destroy that Lisa.” The god watched them from far in spirit.
