Things were good between Caroline and Munashe. Their relationships was improving with no arguments and fights. She stayed away from Portia and Musa. She talked to them but never hanged around them. She wanted to please Munashe. She loved him.

Her cousin could see how happy and pasionate Caroline was. She always smiled and even socialised. Her workmates were curious, asking what the recipe she used was.

Until one weekend, Caroline entered the collage to find Munashe giggling with his face close to this tall girl with long hair. She got angry but didn’t want to make a fuss before hearing the whole story. She didn’t greet Munashe but walked to her classroom quietly. Munashe followed her, knowing she had rushed to coclussions.

“Baby, I was waiting for you,” he said as she sat down.

He sat on the desk next to her. She took books and wanted to seem to ignore him.

“Baby whats wrong?” he asked staring at her.

“You’re disturbing me. Why don’t you return to that floozy?” she asked angrily.

He looked shocked. He stood up and went closer to her.

“That floozy is my friend,” he answered.

“Then go to her. I need to attend my lesson,” she shouted and everyone looked at her. Munashe walked away. She sat as some people began to whisper.

She sat and started to write, ignoring her classmates. The two hour lesson felt like half a day to her. She was hurt by the way Munashe defended his woman. She thought about why he neve wanted to leave his female friends but asked her to leave her friends. Portia and Musa were her only friends since high school.

After her lessons she raced out the class and walked quickly. Munashe saw her and called after her so many times. She couldn’t even hear him. Anger was rulling her mind. Munashe finally gave up but kept staring at her back.

“Whats up friend?” his friend Trevor asked.

“It’s Rumbie, I think Caro saw me hugging her while she was busy touching my cheeks,” he answered.

“We warned you about your female friends. Caro is insecure,” he said and got inside the car. Munashe followed, sitting on the passenger’s side and Trevor drove off. Munashe became depressed over Caroline.

“You will lose Caro if you keep those women’s hands clinging on you,” Trevor said watching Munashe’s sad face.

“We’ve been friends for a long time, she and I dated, now she wants me to change,” he answered.

“Good luck with Caro then,” Trevor said as they pulled up at the dry cleaners to pick up their clothes. Trevor saw how much pain Munashe was in. “Buy her flowers – roses, she will be fine if you soften her up. Tell her she is number one and you love her,” he said as Munashe looked hopelessly through the window.

Caroline arrived home and slept. It was only 3 p.m and her turn to cook but all she wanted to do was to wake up in her dream world. She slept peacefully and didn’t even hear Sandy come in. Sandy removed her workuniforms and changed into her leggings and tees.

Sandy checked for Caroline and found her sleeping. Maybe she was tired, she thought. Sandy cooked spaghetti, canned fish and some veggies. She ate alone, she didn’t want to wake Caro. She could hear Caroline’s phone ringing and the beeping for messages. It was 8 p.m. when she switched off the lights and went to sleep.

When Caroline woke up it was dark. She checked the time and it was 11 p.m. How could she have slept for so long? She saw missed calls and messages from Munashe.

Baby, I called you but you didn’t even hear me.

Baby please I love you, forgive me, I still want to be with you.

My Queen I miss you.

Caro talk to me.

I love you and always will.

She put the phone on the bed and went to drink water. It was dark and she was sure Sandy was sleeping. She saw her food in the microwave. She was feeling down and unloved. She felt unimportant, maybe Munashe loved those girls more, she thought. If she wanted to cuddle in public, he would sometimes refuse, saying people were watching them and he didn’t like that.

She chose to leave her friends, whom Munashe called prostitutes, but he kept up with his female friends. Munashe was just using her, the relationship was over, that’s all she knew. She texted him back.

It’s over. I can’t do this anymore.

Mynashe was sleeping. Caro cried her heart out as she slept. After some minutes, when the message showed it was delivered, she wondered if she had made the right decision. She loved Munashe but she had already dumped him over stupid allegations. She had just wanted to hurt him just as much as he hurt her.

Her mind rewarded her with images of what happened at school. She kept seeing girls clinging on her boyfriend’s body. It was over, there was no turning back.
