“Jezebel, the murderer.” Detective entered the cell, clapping his hands.

“You don’t know who you are messing with,” she spat fire.

“Madam, I have evidence that could throw you in jail… Hell!” Detective moved closer to her.

“Can I kiss you?” she suddenly requested.

“Go kiss the devil!”

“Come on, it’s just us,” she whispered romantically.

“You wished me dead!” he slapped her.

“Who lied to you?”

“See this…” They watched part of Moliati’s confession and she broke into tears.

“I will confess. Make a video. I want the whole world to know the truth. I did everything that Moliati said,” she began to confess.

“Everything was settled to frame you. After stealing your gun, Moliati used it to kill your ex-girlfriend.” She paused as Detective swallowed the hard pill.

His ex-girlfriend was found dead in her apartment and it was suspected that thugs had done it. He had made no tangible efforts to investigate it.

“Then?” he asked, holding back tears.

“When the plan was almost completed, your gun which was in a briefcase went missing. The suspect was Tadala, a housemaid and I took her to my hideout where Dede took care of her. On her death place, she revealed she had given the case to Mustafa the guard,” she confessed.

“Anymore murders?” he asked.

“Not to my knowledge.”

“What about your disappearing maids?”

“Aah that? My maids were just a bunch of girls I carefully picked or rather trafficked from rural areas. I dress them and after moulding them into better housewives, I sell them. It’s cash!” she said and started to laugh.

“Why are you laughing?” he asked, amazed.

“Uh-huh! I’ve just remembered something – your father.”

“What about him? He died about fifteen years ago,” he was surprised.

“I know. He was my boo.”

“Shut up! My dad died at 59 and you were probably 26.”

“Haven’t you ever heard of sugar daddies?”

Detective was quiet.

“I was one of his college girls. However, I was his favorite, you know why?” she asked and he weakly shook his head.

He remembered that his mom once accused his father of cheating with college girls.

“I never wanted it. He came to pick my mesho (roommate) but she had gone home. He raped me and I vowed to report but he bribed me with cash. A month later, I was carrying his child. I was just a teen by then. That was six years before he died.”

Detective was speechless.

“My parents dumped me. I dropped out of school. However, your dad did not leave me because I was carrying his child. He booked me an apartment and promised to build me a house, which he did.”

“You mean he was the one who built your mansion?” He was injured.

“Mmh-hmm.” She nodded

“He is also the one who introduced me to the business of selling humans. He was very connected.”

“So,” Detective was emotional, “Tito is my step brother?” he asked weakly.

“Yes.”

“If you loved my dad, why did you want to kill me?”

“For sticking your nose in my business. And I never loved you. Your mother was my rival after all,” she said.

“I will make sure you rot in jail.” He stood up and went away.

“And your mom?” she asked and he stopped, and came back to her.

“Leave my mom out of this,” he warned.

“Really? After she killed your dad because of jealousy?” Detective was quiet.

“She was justified. My mother was a victim,” he said with a fierce face.

“What about me? I had a future. He raped me!”

“So?”

“If you throw me in jail, I will drag your mother there… And you for keeping quiet,” she said and he felt weak.

“You have no evidence,” he said.

“I have a witness. The owner of the car,” she said and he felt even weaker.

He remembered the day. His mom had had enough of his dad. She borrowed a car and took her husband for a ‘vacation.’ On their way, she deliberately went off the road and pushed her husband out of the car. Unbeknownst to her, the car had a camera inside it and it filmed it all. The owner, who was a partner in crime of Mrs. Khoviwa, informed her of this.

“Why did you not report that it was not an accident if you hated my mom so much?” he asked.

“I knew I was not clean. Most importantly,” she paused, “like every criminal, I knew a time like this could come when I would be in trouble. If you managed to take care of your mom’s sins,” she crossed her legs, “You can clean me as well.”

“If you put me in jail, I will drag both of you there.”
