I gave an excuse and went to the loo. I left them to talk and could hear them arguing. I wondered what they were arguing about, maybe he’s not happy that I’m staying here. Curiosity filled me and I snuck to the door to eavesdrop on the conversation. To my surprise, Mr King talked about moving me to my own apartment, while Dee insisted I stay here with her so she can take care of me.

I’m not a baby! They can’t be making such decisions for me like they’re my divorced parents. If I want, I’ll disappear tomorrow morning and they’ll never see me again. I still own 50 grand you know, I thought to myself.

“Bye! Princess. See you later, “He yelled from the sitting room.” Princess? Who’s that? He was with Dee, so that made me the princess.

I quickly opened the door, “Bye, Mr King,” I said with a smile.

He waved and left. Dee was tense, even though she kept on faking the smile whenever I looked at her, I could still see something wasn’t right. So I approached her.

“Not to be forward Dee, but you don’t have to sulk. Not that I was eavesdropping on your conversation, but your argument didn’t sound pleasant, but then what I want to say is, I’m not going to a leave you. I won’t accept your brother’s offer. We promised to be together forever and I don’t break my promises. So you can lighten up.”

Well indeed, she lightened up but for seconds.

“You don’t understand, my brother doesn’t take no for an answer. He will move you anyway despite how we feel about this,” she said. Well, that was awkward but I didn’t carry on with the conversation because before I could, she left and went to her bedroom.

I continued to watch TV. Dee’s phone rang. I called her but she was quiet. I took it. Caller ID: Bae Shaun. Hmm! Must be the boyfriend.

Just before I could answer, the person hung up. Dee walked in on me with her phone in my hand. She got so furious.

“What the hell are you doing with my phone? You bitches! Don’t know when to back off, do you!” she yelled at me. I didn’t expect that one. Why was she panicking and who were the other ‘bitches’ she was talking about?

“I’m sorry, I didn’t…”

“YOU DON’T TOUCH MY PHONE, GEEZ!” she interrupted me, checking who was calling.

“You don’t have to get angry Dee. I just wanted to take a message. The person hung up before I could anyway,” I explained.

That made her calm down a bit. She was really worked up but what was she hiding? I knew I was beautiful but it was not like her man would know that from my voice. She stormed off. I went back to the couch. This chick gets stranger each hour, what’s really going on here?

I ate my brains for answers but my brain got tired and I dozed off.
