The bat suddenly transformed into the old man who had been behind the podium when Sthembiso had come into the cave. “Now that makes three of them with super powers,” thought Sthembiso to himself. “Richard, Pearl and the old man. Could there be more?” Sthembile had only told him about Pearl and Richard. How was he to defeat all these people by himself? It was impossible. On the other hand, how was he going to live if he surrendered? He would be a slave to the devil if he didn’t stand up and fight, and that is not what his father wanted.

“Oh bring it on, old man!” he shouted. His body seemed to have surprises for him as he motioned to the old man to come and fight him. He felt energetic and strong.

“Pa, you don’t have to do this! He’s mine!” said Richard as he stepped forward and transformed into a bat that was almost the same size as his grandpa. He had long white fangs protruding from his mouth. He quickly ran towards Sthembiso. His T-shirt and pants were torn. He was bleeding with blood everywhere.

Sthembiso held out his left arm and glanced once more at Zeh and Sthembile. If only he had a way to get them out of the cave. This freaked him out more. He transformed into a powerful, giant eagle that only spelt T-R-O-U-B-L-E for the bat family.

Richard’s attacks were like pillows banging on Sthembiso’s face, though he had an awesome defence technique that saved him most of the time. He would flap his huge bat wings, creating a massive wind shield that blew up anything that came towards him.

The fight went on for a long time, with not much impact on either of them. It got more and more boring as Richard kept on doing his defensive technique. That was until Pearl, who had disguised herself as Zeh, revealed herself. It also turned out that Sthembile, who had been lying there unconscious, was actually Sthembiso’s girlfriend Zeh. That was one of Pearl’s tricks.

“Richard! Time!” said Pearl furiously.

By then, the time was exactly 03:36 am. Pearl decided to team up with her brother and together they beat the hell out of Sthembiso. The invisible punches rained down on him, sending him flying in all directions against the walls of the cave until the cave itself tumbled down on them.

Everyone got covered with sand. Some managed to dig themselves out, while others remained trapped underground with Sthembiso. He was weak and temporarily blind from the beating. Pearl, her grandpa and brother easily escaped and flew above the crowd at the beach party. They kept an eye out to see if Sthembiso had survived. Richard was going to be crowned the new king.

Sthembile’s plan was to go steal the contract and every copy of it at their church in Smith Street. She wanted to make a big fire, to toss the contract in the fire and wait for it die. She had to do all of this without anyone seeing her, because all the demons were going to run to those who were around, and that would mean that they wouldn’t have destroyed it.

By 04:47 Sthembile had successfully finished destroying the contract. It was now time for her to go and fight to make sure that Pearl and her family were put to an end. She quickly spotted them up in the dark sky as she got closer to where the party was happening. Fear and anger gripped her when she saw that there was a fight going on. This meant that her brother hadn’t made it.
