Jessica wiped the sweat off her forehead after pulling weeds out of her ripe tomatoes. She fetched water and watered her vegetables, she sighed and touched her belly. She was six months pregnant with her husband’s brother’s baby.

She regretted being a weak woman who slept with any man who touched her. Jessica carried the hoe and bucket to her house. She unlocked the door and took a cup to drink water. She sat down, thinking about how Bright proposed to her. She couldn’t turn back the clock. It was time to accept what had happened. Bright had already shown how he would be treating her after her sins. She cried, thinking she deserved it. She didn’t deserve Bright.

Feeling lonely and needing a man was hard for her. Lovemore wasn’t around anymore. She would see him once in a while. He had found work in manufacturing bricks in another village.

She grabbed her phone. She called Bright but the phone rang and rang but no one answered. She could only do one thing: visit her husband.

Bright sat in the office wondering why his wife broke his trust. The worst was that she was carrying his brother’s baby. He could forgive her if it wasn’t his brother. Bright thought that she wanted to make the two of them enemies. His father always taught them family is important, but his wife’s fornication was not easy for him.

He thought if it happened once then it would always happen. Thinking of it made his heart painful. He knew nothing could make up for it because there was a baby on the way. She had infected him with HIV. Lovemore was always sleeping around with so many women in the village. He loved skirts too much.

His phone beeped and it was Jessica. He ignored it. It rang again, then he put his phone on silent.

It was time to go home after a hard day. He walked down the streets. A woman caught his attention. She wore a short grey dress. He looked at her legs. She was skinny with a good-looking cleavage. She was extremely attractive.

He followed her. The woman had long hair and wore make up. She was the prettiest woman Bright had ever seen. She entered a Boutique. He entered and pretended to be looking for something while he was in fact, following the woman.

“Uhm…I am Bright.” he said and greeted her.

“Cynthia,” she answered softly.

Her voice echoed in his head. His heart beat faster. Cynthia looked at the clothes while Bright kept staring at her. She wasn’t aware that Bright was staring at her.

“I can pay for you if you have dinner with me,” he offered. She agreed. Cynthia took two T-shirts and a pair of jeans that Bright paid for. He didn’t care how much it would cost him as long she was going to be his. They walked down the busy streets with people coming from work.

“How old are you?” he asked smiling.

“I am 26 and you?” she answered softly.

“I am 30. I think I am falling in love with you,” he said, nervously.

He had only dated Jessica and married her. Long back before he was married, he would go to a bar and pick any woman who wanted to have sex. He bought prostitutes until Jessica came into his life.

“It’s fine, but you have to prove that you really love me,” she answered.

They walked to Steers and sat.

“What can I order for you?” he asked delightedly.

“Burger will be fine.” she answered and put her plastic down.

“And cold-drink?” he asked.

“Fanta orange” she said, smiling.

Bright and Cynthia started dating, but Cynthia was after money and gifts, not love. Bright thought they both wanted love.
