“I don’t love him anymore,” Diana said with bitterness.
“Why don’t you tell him that then? You are just wasting James’ time.” Shaine said.
“I don’t need to win his heart,” Diana said.
Shaine was surprised at Diana’s words. She knew that the so-called dream man could end up being nothing but a fling. They then went their separate ways towards their houses.
Diana could not stop herself from thinking about the man in the suit. Her thoughts were getting out of hand and she knew that she had to do something about it before she went mad. She needed him to come back into the shop and notice her. She smiled to herself picturing him before her, touching her hand and already wanting her. She laughed at her own imagination.
Diana was alone at home, her parents were away for work in Venda and her brother was in Johannesburg. She planned to go to town the next day. She made sure the house was clean before she left, in case her parents came home early. She then got ready by taking a bath and getting into her skinny jeans and a sleeveless top. She grabbed her handbag and she left.
She saw James in the street and when he saw her he went back inside his house. She knew that it was over between her and James. That was not what she wanted.
She saw a taxi coming and she ran to the bus stop and caught the taxi right on time. It was then when she realised she was sitting right next to the very same man in the suit she was dreaming about all night. She couldn’t believe her luck as she stared at him in admiration.
“Hey, I always see you at Shoprite. I’m Di by the way,” she said smiling at him.
“Hi there, yes I think I saw you at the counters.”
“Nice seeing you around. Where to now?” she asked concerned.
“Mall, I wanna shop,” he answered.
He looked at her as she kept staring at his lips, eyes and body.
“Uh, maybe we can shop together?” she insisted.
“Sure, and maybe we could get some lunch?” he sounded eager.
They both smiled at each other, but she could not keep her eyes from staring at him.
“I realised I never mentioned my name, I’m Thomas. Tom for short,” he said stretching out his hand for her to shake.
“I’m Diana, Di for short,” she said shaking his hand.
His hands were soft. She wished she could touch more than just his hands. She wanted more of his body. He had a muscular body. She could tell he worked out, tall and handsome with broad shoulders; all she ever wanted in a man.
He looked sincere, determined and optimistic about life. They had finally arrived at their destination. The taxi guard opened the door and Tom let Diana walk out first. She smiled at his charm.
As the day went by the spoke about his interest and about fashion and she found herself laughing at his jokes even when it wasn’t even funny. She felt an excitement rise up within her; she was overjoyed to be with the man she dreamt about. She began to know a little more about Thomas Diale.
He liked to talk about himself and she hung on every word. She only wished he could fall for her just as hard as she fell for him.
They sat in a restaurant and ordered food for lunch while she spoke about her family and about herself.
“I like you, let’s take things slow,” he said staring at her.
“I adored you ever since I saw you at Shoprite. I love you actually,” she confessed.
“Are you making a move on me?” he asked in amazement.
She blushed shyly and nearly fell over her chair. He quickly helped her up.
“I think you’re a sweet girl. Let’s give it a try and see what happens,” he said.
“Thank you for saving me from that fall. And I never let my feelings be left in the dark, I say what I need to say.” She said, ashamed to look at him.
He was smiling at her when she lifted her head to look at him.
“Thanks for being honest. I like honesty. I’m an honest guy too,” he whispered.
She felt her body shaking. He really made her feel like a teenager in love for the very first time. She felt embarrassed for being the first one to make a move, but then she did not care because it’s a new era and nowadays women could be the first to make a move too.
