Cherry already felt like a teenager when she was speaking to Patrick on the phone. She was love struck. She was getting tired of waiting to meet him, to be in his arms and to see who he really he was.

One late afternoon after work, she was on the bed when he called her.

“Babe, you know I love you with all my heart,” Patrick said.

“Do you mean it?” she asked cautiously.

“I know I haven’t met you yet, but when I look at your pictures, you are the woman I need. You’ve already stolen my heart,” he said.

“Wow. No one has said these words in my life,” she said smiling.

“Can we meet tomorrow? I am sending money, give me your bank account details,” he said seriously.

“OK, I will send them through,” she said.

“Bye then. Later!” he dropped the call.

She looked for the details in her notebook. She always forgot them, even the pin. She had to save the pin on her phone book. Within twenty minutes a message alerted her that money was in her account.

She smiled when she saw he deposited R2000 in her account. Her phone rang and it was him again.

“Did you see the money?” he asked calmly.

“Yes. Thank you, but it’s too much,” she answered shyly.

She was shocked that someone would send a lot of money to a stranger, but Cherry was on a moon, she barely thought about it. She was crazy in love.

“No it’s not, I am proving I can look after my lady. Buy something nice for yourself or do what you want with it,” he said gently.

After the call, she ate her dinner happily. Patrick was a man who could give her all she wanted. He was a good provider. She smiled and joy poured from her heart like sweet juice. It’s only tomorrow that she would see the man she has fallen in love with.

A part of her wanted to call Roy to tell him about the latest developments, but she knew he was the one in the wrong. He should call her first.

She lied at work and said she had gastro flu so she could visit Patrick. He would pick her up at the rank near the Park Station in Joburg. It was only half an hour to the CBD by taxi. She arrived at the destination around 9 a.m. She looked around to check if he was there but he wasn’t.

She checked his pictures from her gallery in her phone, making sure she wouldn’t miss him.

Her phone beeped, it was him on WhatsApp.

What are you wearing?

I thought you stood me up. Blue top and blue jeans.

OK. I’m in a white shirt, blue jacket and jeans. Do you see me?

She looked around and there he was, standing next to a white Renault Duster. He was leaning on it, looking at his phone. The car was parked a few metres from the rank. She walked towards him.
He looked up and saw her. He opened his arms to hug her. She chuckled and kept looking at him.

“I thought you were the one going to stand me up,” he chuckled.

“I wouldn’t. I wanted to meet you,” she said, holding his arm.

Feeling him made her filled her hunger. He opened the car and Cherry got in.
