I was at school. My instincts told me to look back and a light-skinned boy winked at me. My spine had chills and my stomach had butterflies. It was lovely to be adored. He winked at me! He winked.
My nerves were running short and my spine kept on shivering. I was a shy person and I tried to concentrate on my homework, but an instinct told me to look back. I didn’t want him to see me, but I couldn’t control myself. What hurt could a peek do? Then I smelt a nice aftershave and met him behind me. He looked like Ronnie, only the skin was different and Ronnie had big ears.
“Hey beautiful,” he said and I was dumbstruck.
His voice was like a sweet melody but my mouth couldn’t speak. He was handsome and dressed smartly. His smile was amazing, blazing like fire. His teeth, oh I can’t go further. He was a doubled Ronnie. I had won the jackpot.
“I’m Nathan and…” he produced his hand and I gushed at him.
“Linda.” I shook his hand vigorously.
He stared at me weirdly. I let his hand go, I felt ashamed. I don’t know what came over me. I’ve never been so embarrassed but he didn’t see that. He saw someone he loved, I knew. I thought I could finally move on. I had dated twenty guys and they all ditched me in less than a week. I don’t know what changed their minds. I hoped this wouldn’t happen with Nathan. He sat closer to me and looked at my book.
“You are doing business?” he asked, and I nodded, closing my marketing book.
“I’m also doing business, but now at Diploma level.” He smiled again.
I could see all his white teeth. His smile made me want to drop into his arms.
“Maybe we could study together,” I suggested. I knew it was a silly suggestion. We had just met.
“Yes, but I would love to see more of you.” He touched his chin, licking his lips.
I loved to see that. I couldn’t breathe. He was irresistible!
He taught me some things about business but it wasn’t studying. He and I kissed. I was shy on the first day. He took me to his house, a two-roomed house that he shared with his brother. One thing led to another.
The next day, I didn’t see him ever again. He had blocked my calls and messages. I knew I had been played and tried to ignore it. It hurt me, my heart was shattered. I thought I had found a friendly, loving guy. I knew I was still young but the longest relationship I had was with Ronald.
I had my bangle with me always. Did I cheat on Ronnie, even though I hadn’t heard from him?
