Gideon

He kicks a can while walking home. He puts his hand in his pocket and he feels the money they stole together with his crew, a gang of corrupt police officers. His home is close to a shopping centre. His phone beeps and it’s Gabriel. He doesn’t read it and carries on walking slowly.

He sees a beautiful lady who passes him. He looks at her. She smells good and her beauty is striking. He stops to look at her then she turns back and sees him looking. He looks at the ground and takes his phone out. He swipes up and down, not noticing the lady is already near him, looking at him.

“Sir, could you help me? I want to go to town. Where can I get taxi?” she asks politely.

“Oh, you thought to ask me? What if I am a thief?” he jokes.

“You are wearing a police uniform, you wouldn’t would you?” she smiles.

“I am Gideon and you?” he provides his hand to greet.

“I am Tariro,” she says.

He asks for her number and where she stays. He seems surprised to hear she stays at a street close to his home. He then shows her where to get the taxi, just next to the shopping centre. He watches her walk away. He wants her to be his girlfriend. He walks inside his home, throws his exhausted body on the bed to sleep.

Zachariah

He stays close the police station so he rushes home. Something is not right. He searches his pockets and finds he has no money. Where is it? He asks himself. In a blink of an eye he realises he left it under the seat. He grabs his phone and alerts Gabriel. If another police finds it, it will be hell to pay. Gabriel sends a message saying he got it quickly before Sergeant came for the car. He sleeps and doesn’t hear the message alert.

After a good sleep he checks his phone and sees Gabriel’s message about the Sergeant’s suspicions. He baths quickly. He needs his money or else Gabriel will pull away a few notes.

Gabriel

Gabriel sleeps for five hours. A constant noise wakes him up; it’s a very loud knock. He sighed, wiping his eyes and walks to the door. Zachariah is leaning on the door’s frame. He is wearing dark blue jeans and black T-shirt. His hair isn’t combed and the fragrance of Brut perfume fills the corridor.

“You were still sleeping?” he asks.

“I thought you were going to come later,” he walks back and falls on the bed.

“You look bad. What went wrong?” Zachariah asks.

“If you didn’t tell me that you left your money under the seat, Sergeant Luke was going to see it,” he talks slowly.

“What? Damn it! Which Sergeant?” he asks.

“Luke,” he answers looking at Zachariah. He sleeps on his side looking at Zachariah sitting on the left side of his bed. Zachariah opens his mouth wide and his eyes are widely opened.

“Luckily I ran fast as I could. I knew someone will pick the car because many of the police cars are at the service,” Gabriel spoke.

“You are wise up there,” he points his head with a finger.

“We were nearly caught. We should be careful,” Gabriel sits on the bed holding his chin.

“Gideon is always flashing money at women,” Zachariah says, looking worried.

“Hope he listens. Here is your cash,” he says handing the wrapped paper.

“Those two don’t listen,” he says opening the wrapped paper.

Zachariah grabs some beers from fridge. It’s only noon when he checks the time.

“I have to go,” Zachariah says.

“Why don’t you go and buy meat and I clean my room?” Gabriel suggests.

Zachariah nods and goes out. Gabriel tidies his room, wiping all dirty places. His woman will come before his shift. Zachariah returns holding chicken feet. He and Gabriel prepare it before cooking. The aroma is in the air they breathe. He cooks soft porridge. He dishes it in plates and they eat quietly. Zachariah leaves after drinking a bottle of Black Label. Gabriel notifies his woman to come over. She is in his room after 30 minutes. He has sex with her and he pays her and she leaves.
