Remember the first time we bumped into each other?
Remember the first time we kissed
Remember the first time you laid your eyes on me
Like an entrance into heaven
“Noni, I’ve been calling you, what are you even doing?” Suzanne said, loudly.
Noni was busy writing a poem for Keith; she loved daydreaming about him. Being in her own world alone with Keith kept her going. Keith was her first boyfriend and she loved him more than anything. He left her for another girl just like that, after a year of being together. She adored her pink notebook. It had lovely flowers and a pink ribbon. Noni had written a lot of poems for Keith, but had never given him one. Whenever she thought of Keith, she wrote something in her book.
“Stay away from me,” Keith said, furiously.
This was one day when she bumped into him. She begged him not to dump her. He shoved her into the wall and she knelt down and cried. Her heart was torn apart. She felt incomplete because her other half had left her. Their relationship was good at the start until Keith suddenly changed and wanted some new girl at college.
“What is this?” Suzanne tried to grab her book.
Noni quickly grabbed it and stood up, holding the book tightly.
“You should mind your own business,” she chuckled. “It’s my diary and it’s a no-no.” Noni put the book in her bag. The two left for lessons.
Noni and Suzanne were second year students at university, studying psychology. They shared a room. That is where Keith met Noni. He set his eyes on her and asked her to be his girlfriend without fear. She played hard to get but eventually agreed.
Before they walked into class Noni saw Keith with the new girl in the corridor.
She wanted Keith to admire her, but he seemed to have forgotten about her.
Can’t you see the love I have for you
Am I dead you?
Did you forget how much I love you?
Suzanne saw Noni drooling at the lovebirds.
“Stop daydreaming, hey.” She pulled Noni into the classroom.
“I am not. It just hurts my heart.” Noni shed a tear.
Suzanne rubbed her back, but Noni looked down, sadly.
“I loved him,” she murmured.
“Forget him, let him go, love someone who loves you,” Suzanne whispered.
Noni knew she was right, but she wanted to fight until Keith came back to her.
That night, Noni dreamt that she and Keith were having a romantic dinner. There were fancy, red candles lit. She saw that they were in a room. Rose petals were on the floor all over. They sat on a blanket on the ground. A basket with delicious food was beside Keith, who lay on his side. She took a box of strawberries, some yoghurt, chicken fingers and potato crisps and placed them on the ground. He took a strawberry, dipped it in yoghurt and fed her. She felt happiness flowing in her body. Her dream had come true. Keith kissed her deeply, she could smell his lips, and his clothes had a strong fragrance that she always loved. She felt his rough hands brush her thighs, she followed their lead. Keith kept on kissing her deeply and she loved the moment.
