Through your perfectly polished stoeps
I saw reflections of myself,
my younger self…
In those days I used to lean on your cupboard’s shelves
after getting a hiding from Grandma for staining her mats.
You caught those tears that fell,
signifying how I felt.
You were the witness to all that.
