When I’m gone
I want them to remember me
As a girl who wanted success –
But it was too far-fetched;
A girl who never gave up –
Even if it meant it would be the end.
When I’m gone
I hope they remember
the ambition in my eyes,
the courage I had to make it happen.
When I’m gone
I don’t want them to cry
But smile and say
“she died trying”.
When I’m gone
I want what I never had in life –
Recognition
Not only for my work
But for my passion, my drive.
When I’m gone
I still want to be living the life
Of my dreams.
So when I’m gone,
Tell them all I have found my refuge:
It’s in heaven
Where I first started.
