A tired and frustrated mother comes home

She walks up the stairs

She puts her bag on the bed

She takes off her coat and puts it on the bed too

On her bed she puts the scent of  ‘perfect home-baked scones’ after the meeting

On her bed she puts the F report marked by her son’s teacher

On her bed she puts the stares and critics

The sigh of disappointments

The late nights working on a school project

Her babysitter’s encouraging words

She puts her hard-working hours for a better future on the bed

Taking her bedside photo, wishing her husband was here for a greater future, as she puts it on the bed next to her

The husband she wished away

As the thought of disappointment appears

She puts it on the bed

What if this is all a mistake?

And she is not spending enough time here?

She puts her body on the bed

All these on the bed

Her body is becoming heavy

But the bed is still steady

She kicks off her shoes and puts these on the bed

Although her bed is creaking, it is made to last

It can still hold a whole buffalo
