My father is gone
It’s been ten years since we buried him
I remember every detail of that day
I came back from writing exams
I walked to hospital
To check on my dad
From a distance
I could see his empty bed
Something inside me said, be strong
The nurse who used to see me
Coming to check on him looked at me
And everything was written on her face
She hugged me
And she said:
Your dad is no longer alive
I could not believe it
The only treasure
And hope I had
The man of his own pride
He did not give me gold and silver
But more importantly
He gave me love and wisdom
Rest in peace my father
