Last night I talked to death.
He promised to take away all my pain.
Unlike doctors he won’t check my breath
Or prescribe pills that won’t soothe the pain.

We walked in the rain and he showed me a tree,
‘A piece of string could set you free’
Over the bridge and pass the Eiffel tower,
‘If you jump you shall float like a flower’

‘The solace you seek I shall give to thee.
Your pain shall perish like burning debris.
Take my hand for you are the prince
In heaven your throne awaits
And there you shall find peace.
Leave this Earth with all its baits.’

So, last night I talked to death.
He promised to take away my pain.
Unlike doctors he won’t check my breath
Or prescribe pills that won’t soothe the pain.
