Back at Antarctica.

The camp people: Here they are!

They found Pilot Tladi’s corpse and as they moved further, they saw Tebalo and Precious on each other, lifeless and pale.

Group 1 of camp people: The pilot is dead!

Group 2 of camp people: The young couple seem dead, too!

They checked Precious’ pulse.

Group 2 of camp people: No pulse!

They checked Tebalo’s pulse.

Group 2 camp people: No pulse! …Wait, there’s a pulse, the heartbeat is too weak! Let’s move him!

Back at home.

Kutlwano is on the phone.

Kutlwano: OK! (Hangs up the phone)

Carol: What did they say?

Kutlwano: They found them!

Lebogang: Oh, thank you God!

Maria: Kutlwano, why does it seem like you saw a ghost? What happened to them? Where’s my baby Kutlwano?

Kutlwano: I’m sorry! There was only one survivor!

They all looked at him with suspicion.

Kutlwano: It was Tebalo! Precious didn’t survive.

This time Maria didn’t cry, she fainted.

Carol: (Crying like it’s her last time. She let out a huge scream) No!

Lebogang: Maria! Oh my God! Call an ambulance!

Carol didn’t know who to cry for, her mother, who is probably dead too or her actual dead sister.

After a while…

At the hospital.

Dr Ratau came to the waiting room.

Carol: How is she doctor?

Dr Ratau: She’s conscious and stable. She should be out by tomorrow morning. She’s still in shock, I’ll give her something for that but I suggest you be careful about what you say to her from now on. You can go see her.

Dr Ratau left the family.

Carol: I think I should go see her alone. I think that’s what’s best for her right now. You can go home and get some rest. It is late.

Lebogang: No! You can go in alone but I’m not going anywhere. You should go though. Looking at Kutlwano and George I’ll be fine. You’ll come pick us up tomorrow when Maria gets discharged and go to the airport. We have to be there when they arrive!

Carol cried and ran to her mother’s room.

Carol: Ma!

Maria just opened her arms to offer a hug to Carol with tears in her eyes. Carol went in and they cried together.
The next day arrived and they went to the airport to get Precious corpse and Tebalo, who was unconscious. Maria broke down again and screamed with pain.
Once Tebalo was awake, they had Precious’ funeral and on her tombstone was written fiancée, daughter, sister and friend. Things were tense between the two families. Maria didn’t want to blame Tebalo but she couldn’t bring herself to it, so she told him that she doesn’t hate him but she needed space. Maybe one day she will accept that her daughter is gone and that she’s only left with one. Tebalo was a mess. He couldn’t eat, drink, bath or even talk. Carol put on her tough exterior and made sure she doesn’t fall apart, even though she did inside. She kept contact with Tebalo. It was somehow better for them staying in contact.

The End
