(The whole family, including Nina and Dineo, is gathered at the Marcus home as requested by David’s lawyer.)

Jabu: Thank you to every one of you for coming. I just want to inform you about what Mr Marcus wrote in his will.

Portia: Wait, why did you bring them here? (She points at Nina and Dineo).

Jabu: Their names are included in this will that is why I called them here.

Portia: What are you saying? How could their names be included in my husband’s will?

Jabu: I do not have an answer to your question Ma’am.

Lwando: Mom, do not stress, you know that my father was a generous man. Maybe he wanted to thank sis Nina by giving her something for doing a great job as a helper of this family for nineteen years.

Portia: Is Dineo also the helper of this family?

Dineo: I’ll leave, Mrs Marcus. (She gets up from the chair).

Lwando: No, no don’t leave, you heard what the lawyer said. You can start Mr Nkosi.

Jabu: Thank you. The will reads as follows: All my children, Lwando Marcus, Zinzi Marcus and…

Nina: Sorry to interrupt you sir, can you wait outside Dineo? This is an important matter.

Dineo: (Confused) Why should I go?

Portia: You heard your mom, just leave!

Lwando: Please, can we stop this now.

Nina: I don’t want my daughter to hear about the Marcus family matters.

Lwando: Please continue sir.

Jabu: (Continues reading) All my children, Lwando Marcus, Zinzi Marcus and Dineo Peterson will…

Nina: I’m sorry Portia it was a mistake…

Portia: (Shocked) Wait, wait…

Dineo: What is going on, Ma? (She is angry) All this time Mr Marcus was my father, but you decided to lie to me! (She cries)

Lwando: Whoa, whoa, what is happening here sis Nina?

Nina: (She cries) I can explain… David said…

Portia: Stop it! You’re lying. David would never sleep with you, never!

Jabu: Can I come back tomorrow?

Lwando: No sir, you need to finish this now. We want to know the truth. What is the will saying?

Zinzi: Oh, I see now why my father was very pleased with Dineo’s education. Now I can connect the dots.

Lwando: Go ahead Mr Nkosi.

Jabu: (Continues reading) My children Lwando Marcus, Zinzi Marcus and Dineo Peterson will each get twenty percent and take ownership of Marcus Constructions. When Lwando is 25 years old he can become the CEO of Marcus Constructions. Zinzi and Dineo will help Lwando run the family business and the three of them shall work together in harmony. My house and cars belong to my wife, Portia and she will inherit twenty percent also. The remaining twenty percent shall be inherited by Nina Peterson, for doing a great job of raising my daughter without a father. I’m very grateful to her for that. Signed by David Marcus.

Portia: Unbelievable, I want to challenge this will.

Jabu: On what basis?

Portia: I cannot get twenty percent and David was married to me, not to Nina. The twenty percent that you want to give to Nina should be given to me.

Jabu: The will was decided by the deceased.

Lwando: Ma, the will was divided equally for all of us.

Portia: I hate you David wherever you are. As for you Dineo, I don’t recognise you as David’s child.

Dineo: I don’t recognise myself either as David’s child. And I don’t want his money.

Lwando: Don’t say that, he was your father.

Nina: When will we get the money sir?

Jabu: In few months’ time. But I’ll let you know about how the procedure will go.

Nina: Thank you sir.

Portia: I see all you care about is money.

Dineo: Let’s go Ma.

Lwando: You still owe us an explanation sis Nina.

Jabu: I think I should leave. I’ll call you Mr Marcus when everything is ready. (He walks out).

Dineo: Ma, please let’s get out of this house, they don’t love us.

Zinzi: Yes you’re right we don’t love you. You can leave.

Lwando: No one is leaving, I want to know the truth.

Zinzi: Confess Nina!

Nina: (She starts to cry) I’m sorry Dineo, but David said I should keep this a secret. It happened during the time Portia was away. Her mother was very sick so she had to go and live with her mom for a month. During her absence David told me that he was lonely and…

Portia: Stop right there! (She leaves the room for a while and comes back angry) Get out of my house, Nina and your child! Go!

(Nina and Dineo leave the house.)

Lwando: Calm down Ma.

Portia: I don’t believe this, I hate this! (She shouts).

Zinzi: Can I ask you something, Lwando.

Lwando: What is it?

Zinzi: (Clears throat) We all know that this year you’ll be turning 25 and you’re a lawyer, my question is, how are you going to be able to become a CEO and be a lawyer at the same time?

Lwando: Actually, I was thinking that I should send you to college to study business courses and when you’re 25 you can become the CEO of the company. In the meanwhile we need to find an acting CEO.

Zinzi: What about Dineo?

Lwando: Don’t worry about her and she’s studying to become a doctor. When everything is fine we need to sit down and discuss this thoroughly.

Zinzi: OK, brother. (She smiles).

Lwando: Do you promise that you’ll go to college and study?

Zinzi: Yes, I do.

Lwando: Thank you. (They hug each other).
