My pin cushion buddy 5.4mmol/L

As a type-1 diabetic, I have always been required to exercise extra caution when it comes to my diet and routine. It has been a challenging 3 years since I was diagnosed , but having my mom by my side as a fellow diabetic has made it a little bit easier. She is a single mom who has always been there for me, and she has never faltered in her role as my caregiver. She has her own off days but her energy is so contagious it amazes me. Despite the challenges that come with our shared medical condition, she has always found a way to ensure that we are well-cared for and that our daily lives do not suffer.

My mom, Verna is truly an amazing person. Not only is she beautiful and a hard worker, but she is also an exceptional cook. Despite her condition, she is still the best cook I know. She is also my friend and companion. She always understands me without judging or making feel weird about my medical condition. Living with type-1 diabetes is very unpredictable but she has been able to navigate it so well. She doesn’t just help me, but also other people with the condition she knows. Her tummy may be full of little holes like a pin cushion, from years of insulin injections, but that doesn’t stop her from tending to my and my little brother’s daily needs.

As a single mom who is also trying to manage her diabetes, it can be very challenging for her. But she has always been there for me, despite the odds. She has danced many silly dances just to keep me positive and motivated. And when the moments get overwhelming, she is the shoulder I cry on. Despite being a diabetic herself, she ensures that I am up and ready for school every morning, prepares my meals, arranges transportation and accompanies me to the hospital for checkups.

Whenever I have appointments with my doctor, my mom is right beside me, constantly asking questions about my condition so that she can enhance my care at home. With her wealth of experience in diabetic conditions, she constantly ensures that my blood sugar levels stay within the target range. She even gives me insulin shots when I’m not able to do it on my own, and she always encourages me to eat healthily and do more activities that keep me fit.I worry about her as she sometimes forget to look after herself too.

Having my mom as a fellow Type -1 Warrior has been a blessing from above. She is always there for me, even when it’s tough for her. She is the best cook, friend, companion, nurse, and counselor that I could ever ask for. Despite the challenges posed by our medical condition, she has always found a way to push through it all. She’s resilient, compassionate, patient, and loving, and I couldn’t imagine going through this journey without her by my side. I wanna cover her in chocolate
and put her on a pedestal in the heart of Italy – her dream destination.. So one day when I’m willing and able I will make her dreams come true.
