How can one stand
When somebody is pulling you down?
How can a building stand
When people are pulling the bricks down?

I bend my back every year
With much effort and floods of sweat
Hoping in plenty my sweat will pay
In season, a good grain comes

My grain in abundance I gather
Hoping some will be my bread and butter
They come with stealing begging prices
My grain to them I deny

Anxiously waiting, I hold my patience
No fair market promising soon
Problems beyond my neck I cannot shoulder
Only a little I got from my good grain

They went in smiles at tomorrow’s profit
They become rich with the profit of my grain
I become poorer at my disadvantage
I ask you, is this also their sweat?
