“Hey Zizi, has Jeromie called or texted me?” Ziyanda asked with a worried look at school the following day.

“No, not at all. But I got something I have to show you, I know you won’t like it but I have to show it to you,”

I then took my cellphone and scrawled to my gallery, in searching of a photo. After I’d found it, I handed my phone to her.

“No, this can’t be, it just can’t. Where did you get this?” Ziyanda shouted.

“She’s the reason why he doesn’t call or text you, Yanda, I’m sorry,” I replied.

Actually, that was a photo of Jeromie and his cousin. And I know that for sure because I had heard his mother screaming – “Be a gentleman and walk your cousin to the bus stop.” And when he departed he hugged his cousin and kissed her, and that is when I took a picture of them. But I did a good job convincing Ziyanda that it was his girlfriend. I also convinced her to go on a date with Bryce for a change, and she agreed.

So she went home angry and came back after an hour looking more stunning than ever. And after a few minutes of having called Bryce, he came on his black BMW. Before they went out to their first date, I took a beautiful picture of them, with Bryce holding Ziyanda’s waist and Ziyanda hanging her arms around his shoulders. I then sent it to Jeromie – same time.

At about nine o’clock I heard someone shouting my name at the gate. It was Ziyanda.

“Hey Ziyanda what are you doing here at this time?” I said. And as I came close to her I noticed that she was crying. Haibo Ziyanda why are you crying?”

“Can you believe that the fool tried to rape me in his car?! He refused to let me out, but I managed to poke him in his eyes then I pushed the door and ran away!”

“Oh Ziyanda, I’m sorry, this is all my fault. I shouldn’t have made you go with him in the first place,” I said pretending to be sad.

“No Zizipho it’s not your fault. You were trying to make me forget about Jeromie and it worked up until that bastard tried to rape me. It made me realise that Jeromie is the only one who cared about me, and ever since we dated, he never tried to sleep with me. But he is the one who suggested we must think about that when I finished school. And girl I don’t care who that girl is but I’ll fight for my man!” Ziyanda shouted, which made the neighbor’s dogs bark.

In the morning Jeromie called me and asked to meet by the park. I was shocked and scared. “Is Ziyanda there with you?” I asked on the phone.

“No, of cause not. I don’t want to see her in my life ever again,” I was excited to hear those words. But I had a feeling that it was a trick, perhaps Jeromie told her everything and they both showed each other the photo’s I sent to them. But I was meeting Jeromie, so I had to go.

“Hey” Jeromie,” I said looking around.

“What, is there someone you came with?”

“No, what about you?”

“Me neither. I’m sorry I didn’t believe you Zizipho. You were right about Ziyanda I saw her last night making love with some guy in his car.”

“What! I’m very sorry Jeromie,” I said and hugged him.

And our faces met as we turned to each other. I then felt his lips touching mine, I than closed my eyes and it felt as if I had flown to heaven. After a while he pulled away, gave me a plastic and said, “That was supposed to be Ziyanda’s dress, she always dreamt of having it. But it now belongs to you. I want you to wear it tomorrow; I have a surprise for you. I’ll pick you up at one, at this very same place.”

We then went to his car and he dropped me at my place.

It was quarter to one when I saw Ziyanda walking aimlessly at the road.

“Wow Zizipho is that you?” she said.

“Yep it’s me darling,” I said excitedly.

“Wow you look gorgeous. You know I always wanted that dress!”

“Thanks Yanda. It is nice to have a boyfriend who cares about me,”

“What! You have a boyfriend? But you didn’t tell me about this,”

“But you never told me about Jeromie either. But don’t worry honey you’ll meet him soon. Now if you don’t mind, I have to hurry I don’t want to keep him waiting,” I said and walked away.

“Guys, can you believe it, that Zizipho has a boyfriend!” said Ziyanda to her girlfriends when Zizipho left and walked down the street in a hurry.

“What, that farm girl!” Her friend said.

“Yes she said she’s got one. You could have seen her looking gorgeous in that oversized outfit I always wanted! And I think she’s going to him right now, because she said she doesn’t want to keep him waiting,”

“What! I can’t believe it. I think we must take my car and follow her right now!” the friend suggested.

“No that’s not a good idea,” Ziyanda panicked.

“What do you say girls?”

“Yes, that would be a great idea,” her other friends replied.

“Okay fine, let us go,” Ziyanda shouted.
