Kamogelo Matlala lives in Mpumalanga, Middelburg, in Mhluzi. He is 21 years ole and is currently studying Law at Unisa.
I like listening to soul and gospel music, watching movies and playing soccer (street soccer) on my free moments.
I was raised by my grandfather who passed away in 2009. My personality, character, sense of humour and charisma, which is only seen by other people I got from him. Both my parents are alive but I am living with my mum, Meisie Matlala, and younger brother, Mbuso.
When did you start writing and how?
I started my primary in Makhathini Primary School and completed my secondary at Sozama Senior Secondary in 2010 which is when I developed a passion for writing stories and poetry. I grew up as a person who didn’t talk much about my feelings and people (close people) encouraged me to open up. That’s why I write now.
Why do you write?
Everything I write comes from the heart; the things I see people going through. And at times, the things I go through. I am grateful to FunDza for the opportunity they have afforded us to put our work out there. The reviews we get make us better in our writing and hopefully lots of people will get to read them.
Where do you see yourself with your writing in a year’s time?
Writing is a hobby for me. I love doing it because it’s a talent which not everyone has and it would be selfish of me not to share it with others.
What are your dreams and aspirations?
I want my writing not only to be published and read but for people to watch in on T.V.
