Greeted by the fresh morning Simonstown ocean breeze, Moena deeply inhaled it while seated on the famous “Wag ‘n bietjie,” bench on Jubilee square.

“Our memories and heritage tied into a mosaic on one little bench,” she murmured with disappointment in her voice. The familiar sounds of the busy docks, called her home. The smell of the salty ocean, rekindled her forgotten childhood memories.

Where are you my friend? She contemplated as she held onto a sack of marbles. Accompanied by her blank notebook and eager pen, she decided to pen her story. A desperate attempt in hope of tracing her long lost friend, Amien. The eager ink of the pen began to mark the repressed memories that lay hidden within her heart. An ode to the place they once loved. As the ever changing crowd passed by, with shut eyes her mind fixated and regressed to the 60s. Memories of Amien returned to her aged imagination.
