I really wish I had told my driver to fetch me from school. I really love making jokes to the guy from Pace high, named Kingsley. He has cute dimples, light in skin colour and a chubby one. And also me bidding goodbye to that guy from JT high, Andile. He also has dimples but is a brownie yum yum and also a bit chubby. If you are not used to him, you find that he has a disgusting attitude, but I really took my time to understand him and so far… I’m the only he talks to. Amazingly they are both from the same year as me (2008).
I reach home and unfortunately but gladly, there are a lot of church guests but they are all sitting outside at the back of the house, meaning I can enter using the front door which is luckly open. I quickly greet whoever is in the house and rush to my room. I throw myself on my bed, which I share with my little sister- Thuli, the nuisance. But I don’t get any sleep, so I decide to take a walk aroung the township.
As I am walking, I bump into a 13 year old girl, grade 6 learner, of my little sister’s grade, worse they know each other, Anele, from the same school about 5 minutes from home as it is down the road. We actually attend ICT classes together with her sisters. “Penny! How’zit?” “None, just bored of the house. Then what are you doing in my kasi?” “Just came to meet some of my friends but since I met you, I can spend the whole day with you, you know just chatting.” “Okay let’s sit under the big tree.” We sit under the big tree of my township ground.
“So Penny, are you straight or part of the Rainbow Nation?” Why would she ask me that question though, is it because she is a small lesbian? “No, I ain’t straight” that’s what I can say. “I am a lesbian.” No, not at all. I’m not a lesbian. I am attracted to men, women, gays, lesbians, asexuals, e.t.c meaning I am Pansexual. Yoh this is a big ride though. I listen as she carries on “Since you said you are Les, then like I think it’s time I told you something.” I stare at her with questions in my damn mind, wait I just hope she won’t say she has feelings for me and that we should date.
“Yeah sure talk.” As I urged her to talk, “Penny, I have feelings for you. I was scared to tell you about them seeing that you are in grade 10 and did not seem to be a lesbian. But then I went past the thought of the grade and yeah, here I am.” “Since when did these feelings of yours appear?” Is that even a question to ask? “Well… on the second Saturday into the ICT classes.” “Oh…kay.” I don’t know what else I should say. So she asks “So like can we try something between the two of us…” “Like a relationship. Can we date?? Is that what you mean to ask?” “Yeah!” I can see a smile on her face, then goes my answer… “Can I like… get some time to think about it and I’ll get back to you, okay?”. She gives me the please-don’t-deny-my-feelings-cause-I-love-you-and-your-crazy-pink-lips nod.
