ALL ROADS LED TO PARIS, but before that, my sister invited my
friends and me for dinner. The dinner started with joy, and just as we
were settling in, a knock came at the door. Guess who it was? Tornado
and Hurricane!
I quickly pretended to be disabled, and my sister was surprised to see
them. “What the hell are you doing here?” she asked. “We didn’t know
you had guests,” they replied. “From poor to being a hobo, then disabled?
I’m sure she’s mute…”said Mike
My sister chimed in, “What are you doing here? Did you come here
to mock my sister?” Her husband tried to stop her, but he failed. “Are
you chasing your parents out?” my mom said. “Parents? Who sided with
a monster? Like, who does that?”
“The people I’m eating dinner with are my family,” my sister said. “I
know, I don’t know about you, but I’m done talking. I want you to take
your filthy heads and get out of my house before you leave. Don’t ever
come to my house again!”
They left, banging the door. Arthur said, “I think it’s time for us to
go home.” “So fast?” she replied. “No, we really enjoyed dinner. It was
amazing. Thank you.” “Okay, I wish you a safe trip for your journey
tomorrow,” my sister said.
Before I left, I thanked everyone for making my company run while
I was still down. Especially my two friends – wow, indeed, they made this
company run, and I’m impressed. To my long-lost friend Arthur, wow,
you’re making me cry. “Thank you,” he said. “Look, it’s okay. What I’m
doing now, I will do it again and again.”
“Thank you all,” I said. “Don’t worry, we will work hard while you
two are still away. Teamwork, remember? Yes… bye, bye.”
Wow an overwhelming journey is about to start .
“Oh no, here comes the day… All of a sudden, I found myself inside
an airplane. Oh God, I couldn’t believe I’m doing this! I was so scared…
It was my first time flying. I almost forgot that I’m a cripple.”as for Arthur
it was not his first time in a plane But what scared me even more was how my disability would affect
my travel experience. Iam cripple, and I worried about how I would
navigate the plane, how I would use the restroom, how I would survive
the flight. I took a deep breath and tried to calm my nerves, reminding
myself that I had prepared for this moment. I was determined to face my
fears and make it through this flight.”
That’s how I had self -confidence.”As we prepared for the long flight,
I started to feel sleepy. Luckily, it was a direct flight to Paris, which
meant I would arrive around 5 am. Arthur was very caring throughout
the journey, making sure I was comfortable. I was thrilled as the hours
and minutes ticked by, and before I knew it, I dozed off.
After what felt like an eternity – around 11 hours, since we took
off from Johannesburg – we finally arrived at Paris Charles de Gaulle
Airport. Wow, Paris is truly amazing!”
“Finally, we arrived in Paris! I couldn’t wait to see the Eiffel Tower. I
couldn’t believe this was real and not a scam – everything was arranged
perfectly, from the hotel to the business proposal. It was amazing!
I never thought my life would change so much, and it’s all thanks
to Arthur, who stood by me and never gave up on me. The business
proposal went smoothly, and it’s now a done deal. This calls for a
celebration!
Arthur said he had a surprise for later that evening, and I couldn’t
wait to find out what it was. During the day, I met his brother Jason,
who’s also kind and warm, just like Arthur. It seemed like Arthur had told
him a lot about me.
As the evening arrived, I wanted see what the surprise was. I had a
feeling it was going to be something special…”
“He blindfolded me and asked, ‘Are you ready to see the surprise?’
He counted down and shouted ,‘Surprise!’ Oh my god, I couldn’t believe
my eyes – the Eiffel Tower! It wasn’t just a surprise; we also dined at
the 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant. Wow, what a lovely night! I could see the
stunning view from our window seat. I thanked him for the wonderful night, and it was amazing. The next day, he surprised me again with a Big
Bus Hop-On Hop-Off 1-day tour. It was a great day, but sadly, we had
to return to South Africa the next day. I was sad because I didn’t want to
leave.
Here comes another long flight…that was tiring. After arriving at
the airport, my sister and friends welcomed us. I resumed my physical
training with my trainer, John, who was impressed by my progress – I
could take a step! I was thrilled and determined to surprise Arthur by
walking soon.
My business was thriving, and I was the best interior designer in the
world, thanks to my family. I decided to redesign my business interior to
leave my past wounds behind. One day, Mike’s wife visited my reception
area and was rude, saying, ‘Well, well, well…who do we have here? A
little mouse in a wheelchair. What do you want, Janet? Move your cheap
wheelchair.’ My receptionist tried to intervene, but I waved her off and
moved away.
Months passed, and I spent a wonderful Christmas with my sister
and her twin daughters. Just before sunset, Arthur took me to the beach
with a purpose. He thanked me for being in his life, acknowledging my
hard journey. I quickly took off my shoes and tried to take a step.
He turned, surprised, and said, ‘You can walk!’ I replied, ‘I’m
trying…’ Before he continued, I thanked him for everything, and he said,
‘There’s no need to thank me. I want to make this official.’ He slowly got
down on one knee, took a ring, and said, ‘I want you to be mine. Will
you marry me?’ Oh my god, I said yes without hesitation! I was happy
but decided to stay in my wheelchair until the surprise event arrives.”
