Keneilwe’s side.

The clouds are promising rain, I can see the huge dark clouds as I walk to meet them. My mind’s telling me to turn back and get under the blankets, but I can’t. I promised my friend, Zanele that I’d meet her today.

I’ve been breaking alot of promises to her, always said I’m coming, only to disappoint. Today, I decided I will see her. Like God is against me meeting her, the rain suddenly drizzles. Luckily, I was smart enough to grab an umbrella before dashing for the door.

I flip open my umbrella and walk down. I’m still in my school uniform. It’s a Saturday, and I was attending extra matric classes. The rain is just drizzling, but it’s enough to make someone wet.

A boy runs into my umbrella, begging me to let him walk with me. I allow him. I’m not one to talk too much, I hate talking. I have a low voice, that I’ve noticed people straining to hear me.

My cellphone beeps, Zanele is asking me where I am. I text back, and tell her my exact location. She tells me she’s coming to get me, and she can see me.

I slip my phone in my pocket, ignoring the boy beside me. I glance up and I see Zanele walking towards me, on the other side of the street. Something else catches my eye, the girl Zanele is with.

The girl is so gorgeous, she is taller than Zanele. That means she’s also taller than me. She’s light skinned, almost on the yellowish side.

She’s wearing a light skinny jean, a grey black and white short sleeved shirt, and a colorful hat.

I suddenly feel self conscious, I’m in my uniform and I know I look tired. The girl with Zanele is undoubtedly, a stud. She has such a masculine build.

As they cross the street, over to me. My eyes are glued onto the girl. I don’t even hear the boy that begged me to let him under the umbrella, say his thanks and walk off.
