I walk home tired, the scorching sun piercing through the umbrella I have.

“Can I walk with you?” Ofentse slips under my umbrella.

I smile and let her walk under the shade of the umbrella.

“Don’t mind Thabiso and his crew.” She tells me.

“Its okay.” I shrug

“Its not okay, you should tell Mr Manzini.” She advises

“That would only make it worse.” I answer.

“I guess.” She sighs.

“You’re the only learner in our class, who speaks to me. Thanks Ofentse.” I say

“Hey! I’m a nice girl. Besides, I think you’re cute.” She looks up at me.

I stop walking and look down at her. My mother always said I have my father’s eyes. My dad’s eyes are brown and gentle.

“You have nice eyes.” She compliments

Is she flirting?

“Tha..thanks. you’re beautiful.” I stutter.

She smiles then walks again.

“I’m home.” She says, stopping in front of a double storey house.

“This is..your home?” I look up at the house.

“Yup.” She smiles.

“Yoh.”

I see a car coming down the street, a silver grey BMW.

“That’s my dad.” She says.

I quickly shuffle away, not before looking back, and seeing Sir Manzini step out of the luxurious car and Ofentse opening the gate.

So, that’s her father?!
