Xolani returns to report about the new lead the police found.

Xolani: I spoke with the informant from the police and he said that the information on this case is confidential, only those who are working on this case know what’s going on…

David: (calm and composed) You came all the way back here to report this? (suddenly angered, and shouts)Don’t report such useless information to me again! You go there and tell him to find a way to be a part of that damn case or his family will meet it’s maker, now do I need to teach you everything?

Xolani: Sorry boss, I’ll go now. (leaves)

A week has passed, the family is home after Mrs Nkosi’s memorial service. Mr Nkosi is in his room as he receives a call from Sizwe, the forensic doctor.

Mr Nkosi: (picks up the call) HELLO, ANY NEWS?

Sizwe: WE’VE RECEIVED THE RESULTS FROM THE POST-MORTEM TESTS. COULD YOU COME TO THE HOSPITAL SO WE CAN GO OVER THE INFORMATION?

Mr Nkosi: NO, I CANNOT COME, TOO MANY EYES ARE WATCHING, I CAN’T LEAVE IN MY CONDITION. INSTEAD , YOU CALL THE GUYS FROM THE MORTUARY TO TAKE MY WIFE’S BODY AND BRING IT OVER TO MY HOUSE, AND YOU CAN COME WITH THEM, THAT WAY IT IS LESS SUSPICIOUS.

Sizwe: I UNDERSTAND SIR, I’LL DO AS YOU SAY.I’LL HANG UP NOW. (HANGS UP) (Mr Nkosi calls Jonathan to his room)

Mr Nkosi: The people from the mortuary are coming to bring your mom’s body, make the preparations for the burial, you know my decision, I want your mom buried here at home.

Jonathan: Don’t worry dad, I’ll take care of everything, have you been sleeping well though? (concerned)

Mr Nkosi: Sleeping well? Ha…I don’t even know what that is anymore, I haven’t had a good sleep in while son,(sits on his bed) you know son…I’ve been sharing this bed with your mom for over35 years now, without her the bed feels empty and cold, I’m empty son, I know I still have you guys but it’s not the same, it’s just not the same. (cries)

Jonathan: It’s okay dad, we will give your wife and our beloved mother the proper send off she deserves, and an even greater gift by punishing the one that murdered her.

Mr Nkosi: Nothing will make me happier son, (hugs Jonathan) (but you wont be happy son, that woman has given you the biggest betrayal, and I can’t let her off)

Later the people from the mortuary arrive with Sizwe.

Mr Manana: Please sign here Mr Nkosi to show that you have received the body. (Mr Nkosi signs, Mr Manana and the others follow Jonathan to the family hall, Sizwe and Mr Nkosi head to the study room)

Mr Nkosi: I’ll check to see if it’s safe to talk, (checks and sees no one around, locks the room) I’ve locked the room just in case, now it’s safe to talk.

Sizwe: We’ve results from the post mortem test, and we’ve found that you wife didn’t fall and hit her head, instead someone smashed her head open. We’ve also found fingerprints of a lady named Zanele Gumbi on her body.

Mr Nkosi: Zanele Gumbi?

Sizwe: I’ve brought her picture, here…(hands over)

Mr Nkosi: (takes the picture and looks at it) This is Thando…(looks at Sizwe)

Sizwe: In this folder are all the documents with all our findings. I have kept with me copies just in case, call me whenever you need them. It is not wise to talk much in the situation you’re in, just call me, and we’ll meet some where to talk further.(Sizwe leaves) (Mr Nkosi locks the document in a safe)

Mr Nkosi: (I will expose your schemes Thando, you have messed with the wrong family, I will not let my son marry a devious and treacherous woman like you)

The day of the funeral has arrived and everybody is gathered in the backyard, the crowd is singing and they stop.

Pastor: We are gathered here today to send of the deceased Mrs Lungile Alicia Buthelezi Nkosi, do the family members of the deceased have any last words before we lower the coffin?

Mr Nkosi comes forth and says a few words.

Mr Nkosi: We’re here darling, your beautiful yard where you liked to rest after a tiring day, now you’re here to rest forever right next to your favorite flowers. (sniffle) You’ve always wanted to have your burial here and I’ve always said that one day I will rest right here next to you, but that day hasn’t come yet. I also know you wouldn’t want me to leave our children at such young ages, and I will continue to do what we couldn’t do together. Until then wait for me, here are white roses fresh from your garden…(places his roses on the coffin and everybody else followed, Amanda couldn’t stop crying the entire time)

Pastor: (the crowd hums a melancholy chorus) As we lower the coffin, the soul shall return to its creator, the flesh to the ground, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. (After the coffin was lowered the family members pour in soil onto the coffin, after that the coffin is buried and the family gives their words of thanks to the attendees. Everyone washes their hands before they go and leave the family at the grave)

Jon & Manda: REST IN PEACE MOM…

Mr Nkosi: (Your beautiful flowery yard has now become a grave yard…I shall get justice for you and save our family from this girl, please watch over us from above my love…) (Mr Nkosi turns and looks at Thando who was standing right beside Jonathan)

WILL MR NKOSI MANAGE TO SAVE HIS FAMILY FROM THANDO? OR WILL HE BE JOINING HIS WIFE SOONER THAN EXPECTED?
