Learners were dismissed and went to their classes. She took a seat and took out a novel to keep herself busy.
“Look who’s here today.” Mrs Elizabeth said teasing.
Kenosi didn’t bother to raise her head and face her. This made Mrs Elizabeth more angry, being avoided like that in front of the whole class.
Mrs Elizabeth continued “Hey listen here madam you won’t come to school whenever you want to. You must come to school everyday. Actually I know type of girls like you , attention seekers. You also arrived late so that the whole school see’s you. Well sweetie let me clarify this for you. You are not special nor pretty so you won’t do as you please are we clear girlie?”
The whole class laughed and actually made Kenosi feel that she really was nothing. At this time Kenosi’s anger was uncontrollable .
“Don’t you dare talk me that” she said pointing her finger at Mrs Elizabeth.
” How dare you raise your voice to me. I swear you will regret the day you were born”
Kenosi felt no fear. She was indeed regretting the day she was born from the first time she realised she was different from other children.
“We will meet after break in the office, we need to discipline you “She went out of the classroom.
“Don’t worry , you’ll get used to her. I was also treated like this because of my appearance.”
Kenosi raised her head to see who was talking. There he was a very dark skinned guy. He had a huge noise. Kenosi just responded in a smile. Obviously she had already seen the reason why her classmates and Mrs Elizabeth treated them differently.
“Oh where are my manners ? He giggled. My name is Nkosi”
Kenosi also introduced herself though Nkosi already knew her name.
“I am Kenosi , surely you know me as black english girl”
“No , don’t call yourself that , I’d actually like to give you a proper nickname – lovelies (a beautiful woman)
” I love it ” Kenosi said in an excited voice.
Both of them had lunch together , teased and laughed together.
After break Kenosi went to the principal’s office and she got suspended for a weak.
