Post-graduation studies

My phone rings,

“Hi Violet”

I answered the call from a number I didn’t recognise,”Hi who is this?”.

He mentions his name and says,”I got a bursary from the municipality with you, It also caters for residence and the lady in the admin office asked if you want residence?”

I asked him curious, “Residence? Oh I recognise your name from the email the municipality sent a few days ago, what are you registering for? I heard Masters degree didn’t take accomodation.” I paged my emails to confirm as I was sitting in my office doing my office work.

“I am doing a Degree in Scriptwriting at Potsdam, I will ask just now but they said we can all have accomodation.” he said charting on his background, “ya, she just said you can with the bursary allows that”

“Thank you very much, I am at work in Gauteng please register the residence for me I will come down to Eastern Cape on the month end” I then said, we said our goodbyes.

I was on Site that day producing a movie on one of the Scripts I wrote for my degree in Media studies (Scriptwriting and Movie Production etc), it was my report for my Master degree and the movie was going to be a success . I just got a bursary from our local municipality in Eastern Cape. The previous year from then I decided to study my Master’s Degree and luckily got a graduates producer role at the National Department of Arts while studying then later on that bursary.

Accomodation in Eastern Cape, East London I didn’t even think of it I enjoyed travelling and staying those weekends or two weeks part time studies while on site. The department allowed for that. I spent the previous year travelling up and down EL-JHB it was fun.

My contract was about to end everything was just falling into place, I had a year past graduate expirience with the National department of Arts then studiying a major in production everything was going smooth.

I packed my bags, sold my bed and off I went via our Civic building where Kempton park offices are towards the OR Tambo international airport with my luggage and flew to East London. I was going to miss that beautiful city. I landed in East London midday and took an ubber to the residence office of our campus. I was asked to choose ocean view residences or CBD. I had no job and thought I was going to stay there for a year looking so the CBD residences were going to be better. Imagine I only studied partime so the ocean view residence was going to be perfect for partying and long weeks at the beach. All the way from Gauteng to stay in a CBD once more I got my keys and location. I took a cab to the Residence, then unpacked my luggage.
