The weather looks kinda stormy outside. It has been 4 days since we got here. I’ve been enjoying the pool with my new friend Billy. He and his family stays on the upper floor of the hotel. Sometimes we play ball on the field or we play games on his console. I have been having so much fun but I worry about my sister. She has not left the room much unless Mom and Dad takes us to the mall.
Today I plan to introduce her to Billy’s older sister. They seem to be the same age. Billy’s sister is so much fun to play with. She taught us new swim tricks at the pool.
“News Update: Citizens of Congrego town are advised to please stay indoors as there will be a major storm passing by.” the news lady says on the tv.
My parents look concern.
“Okay,guys. No need to panick we will be safe inside. But no one is allowed outside until the storm is over!”
“That means no playing outside for you Carter.” my mom says seriously.
“Okay, Mom.”
So this means I need to move to Plan B.
“Mom can Krissy come with me to Billy’s room today? We will be watching cartoons. While his parents are at the show in the dinner hall.” I say happily
“Uhm,yes, sure if your sister wants to join you then its okay with me.” She says as she continues watching the news.
“Yayy”
“Am I supposed to watch tv with you and your friend?” She says with a bored tone.
“No, Krissy I want you to become friends with Billy’s sister. She’s so cool!” I say with awe
“Uhm,okay.”
We then take our backpacks and head on a short journey up.

“Sheila,where have you been? There is a storm brewing and head management has orders to lock down the hotel until the storm passes.” One of my co-workers says frantically.
“Relax, John. I was helping out in the breakfast area. I guess not many people can take on a full breakfast buffet alone” I say as I chuckle.
“I’m pretty sure you were hired as a receptionist and not as kitchen staff. Anyway, just help me make these calls to our guests please. “
“Okay okay.”
“Sheila, we have a emergency in room 412. An elderly guest is feeling anxious. Can you attend to this please.” My manager says as she peaks out the office
“Okay ma’am. I’m on it.”
Why me? damn, this was definitely not in my training. Maybe I can Google how to calm elderly folk down during a storm?
I take my time to get the room. Enjoying my energy bar and glad that the cameras in this part of the hotel aren’t working.
* knock knock*
* another 2 knocks*
Hmm,maybe the lady has calmed down? I almost got excited and walked away.
“I’M COMING. WAIT ABIT.” A voice shouts from beyond the door.
damn, I guess this is payback for that free breakfast.
Someone finally opens the door and it’s the elderly woman from a few days back. Oops. I gotta act professionally.
“Uhm,Hello ma’am. I’m Sheila from reception. We got a call earlier stating that ma’am needed some help?” I say with an big friendly smile.
“Yes, dear. Oh you work here? I had no idea. “
“I’m feeling alot better but while you’re here do you mind setting the tv channels for me. I can’t seem to find the cooking channel.” she says as she hands me the remote.
” oh and please this is a no smoking room.”
I get it karma. Please chill.
* 1hr later *
“Thank you dear and one last thing. Can you please hang my clothes on the hangers in the closet.”
“Yes,ma’am. “
This has been the longest hour of my life. Argh. Please tell me this is the last thing I gotta do.
“I’m done ma’am. Uhm, Im needed at the front desk ma’am.”
“Okay,thank you dear. You have been a big help and I just want to thank you with this small gift.” she says as she hands me a $100 note.
Uhm,this sure is a moral testing moment and I should be rejecting this but it’s been quite a tough time financially. Mom is working a low paying job and we are barely paying rent and food. So forgive me if I didn’t reject the gift.
“Uhm,thank you so much ma’am. I appreciate it truly.” I say with a genuine soft smile.
I do my final wave goodbye and walk back to front desk.

Krissy seemed alittle bit uncomfortable but once Ella started talking. Everything seemed in balance again. They are a perfect match. I knew it haha.
Billy and I was playing our favorite fighter game until i accidentally kicked Krissy backpack over. I could see the embarrassment on Krissy face and then I looked over and saw her dolls laying on the floor.
Before I could run over and pick them up. The most unexpected thing happened. Ella walks over and picks them up.
“Omg, I love these dolls. When my parents use to leave Billy and I alone with the nanny at night. I use to sleep with one of these dolls next to me.” Ella says.
“Krissy, can we play with them? if that’s okay with you.” Ella says sincerely
“Sure. I would love to. I can’t believe you know them Ella.” Krissy says with a smile.
The two of them then proceed to play on the other side of the room.
Billy and I got back to our game and just when I was about to beat him. *bam* the power goes off and it is darker than the sky at night.
Before we start panicking. Ella tells us to stay calm and that she has a flashlight.
We all follow her in order headed towards the front desk.
I felt so scared but Krissy took hold of my hand. We continued walking down the dark passageway.
Until Ella stopped.
” That looks like a cleaner. Let’s go ask him for help. ” Ella says
We all moved towards the tall figure near the stairway. When we hear a ringtone.
