Now after the funeral they are throwing sand on coffin I decide it’s time.
“Wait before you throw sand on his coffin I have something for him,” I say. They put their shovels down and take a break. I take it out and open it one more time before I have to put it in there.
Dear Papa
It’s María i miss you so much even though I never really knew you. You will always have a place in my heart.
You deserved a peaceful death not this but i know up there have the best time of your life.
Now i don’t want to take to much of your time up so I’ll make this quick
I love you so much Papa and you’re the best angel i could ask for so now for me please rest in peace
You beautiful soul.
Sincerely,
María
I wipe my tears away as I throw the note down into the grave. Suddenly I feel a hand on my shoulder.
“We should go now María it’s getting dark,” he says. It’s Ayden.
“Uh yeah, you’re right,” I say looking down into Papa’s grave for the last time before i I walk away. As we walk into the busy streets of Havana Ayden takes my hand.
I smile as I hug him and once again the rain starts pouring onto us as he kisses me another tear falls, but this time it’s a happy tear knowing that everything will be alright.
