The next two days flew by fast and Ayden and I haven’t spoken since but now hopefully everything will go back to normal when we get home. We are all packed up and waiting at the train station.
After an hour of waiting the train finally arrives.
“María wait! I’m going with you!” he shouts from behind us.
“You’re coming with me back home to Havana?!” I shout back.
“Sí come on the train is going to leave without us,” he says taking our bags.
When we get onto the train I’m shook that my father wants to see my family again but I’m also relieved that I’ll finally get answers about him.
When the train finally stops it’s dark outside but the train station is full. When we get off the train I hear a familiar voice. Its Mama.
“I missed you María,” she says kissing my cheek.
“I missed you too Mama” I say but she focuses her eyes on my father. She looks shocked.
“What are you doing here?” Mama finally says.
“Uh I came to-” before he could say anything else she hugged. He looked so happy in that moment but it faded when grandpa stepped one foot forward. Suddenly everything turned sour.
“Are you here to take my daughter away again Pablo because if so it’s best you go back to wherever you came from,” grandpa spat.
“I come in peace I prom-” before he could finish grandpa had smacked him leaving a mark.
“I told you once I will not repeat myself leave my family alone Pablo,” suddenly a loud gun shot was fired. Everyone started running to exits and grandpa just stood there as security took his arms and dragged him to the front desk. Ayden and Carlos stood shocked with their mouths wide open. Mama and grandma were shaking in fear. I turned my head to look at papas lifeless body bleeding out on the ground I dropped to his body now covered in his blood I sob into his chest as I wished he never came back to Havana.
