The next few days Jess has been hanging out with us and she and Ayden have been getting pretty close.

“Oh there’s no more space on the bench I guess I’ll just sit on Aydens lap,” she says. There’s literally so much space on the bench!!!

“Uh you can sit next to Carlos Theres’ plenty of space,” he says awkwardly. She sits down angrily. What is her problem?! Suddenly the camp owner shouts my name from his cabin.

“María de la Luz please come to my office,” the camp owner says walking back into his cabin.

When I get there I open the door and see him sitting in his chair behind his desk.

” Yes sir you called me?” I say.

“Sí I have something I wanted to tell you for a long time María but I never knew when the right time was and now you’re here and it’s perfect,” he says getting up from his chair.

“I’m confused what are you talking about.” I look at Carlos and Ayden now playing soccer.

” I’m your father María I have evidence if you want to see,” he says.

“What no? Mama said my father left to America,” I say.

“No sweetheart you were wrongly taken from me and your mama and her family are the cause that I couldn’t be with you my sweet child,” he says.

“So you’re my father?” I ask as tears start filling my eyes.

“Sí I’ve missed so much of your life but I’m here now,” he says hugging me.

“Oh you don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for you papa,” I say as tears start falling down my cheeks uncontrollably as I hug him back.

“I promise no more waiting María I’m here and will always be,” he says wiping my tears away.
