We woke up before dawn, Princess Kika, her troops and I marched through the marshes heading into the neighbouring village, to form an alliance. After two days when the sun was high up in the sky scorching our heels as we marched forward we came upon Adania, the people of the fire. They were a silent people, always wore red cloth covered in red paint, it is said they can conjor fire with their hands. We stood at the edge of the village and a young tall man covered with red paint ushered us into the main palace where were waited for the kind.
“Princess Kika!” The king exclaimed smilingly, Kika stepped forward and kissed the king’s hand, it was a sign of respect in these parts. We were offered refreshments and we dined till nightfall till Kika stated her case. The King agreed to fight besides us. He summoned the young man who welcomed us earlier, i later learnt his name was prince Ule of the Daka tribe, his eyes caught mine, l quickly looked away but if i am not mistaken I think i saw ambers burning bright in those eyes.
But i needed no distractions, this was a life and death situation and love was not even in the picture. “I saw the way he looked at you” Kika whispered, i looked at her un disbelief ,”I do not know what you speak of” i quickly said as i took of my beads and lay my head to sleep looking the other direction. Kika laughed silently and a small smile curled my lips before i dozed off.
Before dawn we were already up and Ule’s 500 men troop was already waiting. So this was it, i had the people of water and the people or fire by my side, the next village we would come across would be where the battle would begin, heaven save us.
“Your name is?” A deep voice asked behind me as i marched behind Kika, it was Ule, “Ojomole, you can call me Ojo.” He looked at me and nodded with a smile, he nodded a bit at Kika acknowledging her presence and returned to marching infront of his troop. I was right, those eyes burnt of ambers and i was slowly being drawn to the warmth they gave off.
