What is the Oracle: Author’s brief introduction
I once saw Trevor Noah, a well-known radical activist comedian, being questioned on a television program about the nature of a joke he made in which he claimed that African Americans are not Africans. This got me thinking about what truly defines an African and what cultures does the African American population has that are related to Africa? Why are they referred to as African Americans when they were undoubtedly born, raised, and some even died in America alone? Finding the truth was my mission because it appeared that the majority of people would identify as Africans based just on the colour of their skin. However, being black does not automatically identify someone as African. It is impossible to separate identification from one society to another when colonization and cultural oppression are present because culture has been moulded and altered to completely develop new practices. The simplest method to comprehend this dilemma is to gaze behind and seek solutions from the past. That is the Oracle.
