I asked Kevin on a date . I. asked him to meet me at Food and Wine 8.pm sharp. I arrived early and sat there waiting for him to come for a candle light dinner. I went all out and I even book the whole space. The were rose petals on the table , on the floor and some cute candles and all those things you think are romantic. He wasn’t wearing his office attire- a suit for a chancge. He looked extremely in a smart casual outfit as he was as ascending to our table. He was Impressed. Why wouldn’t he be impressed? I bought the gentleman roses and I gave him. His smile was to die for . So precious.
” Wow. I must say, I love what you did here. A !of. Thank you. I really appreciate the effort.” He couldn’t help himself.
” Anything for my gent ” I teased.
” Are you planning to propose, Ms King?” He bit his lower lip making me to laugh so hard.
” No. Not yet”
” Not yet? So you are planning to… In the future. Well I’ll say yes over and over again. Someone have to break the tradition after all” we both laughed.
We ate our dinner in silence. Music was playing softly in the background. After that the stage was ours. He took my hand and led me to the dancing stage. We danced slowly following the rhythm. He gazed in my eyes and kissed me.
“I love you! I love you so much, Shine King. I love you”
” I love you ! I loved you Kevin.” I shouted.
” Shine!” He called my name for the universe to hear him.
” Kevin!”
We both laughed at ourselves for acting like teenagers . Babyish I guess.
” I’ve noticed that you’re tense. What happened?” I took a deep breath and gathered myself. He looked worried.
” I have something important to tell you.”
” Shine, tell me. What wrong?”
” I got a job offer at Hlozi Media. It’s a really great offer. My dream.”
” Are you going to take it? “
” Yes. “
” What about us?”
” I guess, we just have to do a long distance relationship. We will video call. Visit each other from time to time. It will work.”
” A long distance relationship? “
“Yes”
” They don’t work. I’ve tried one. It didn’t work. I got betrayed, remember?”
” It will work. We will make it work.”
” There’s no way I’m doing that. Is it money? I’ll give you one then. Just don’t go.”
” It’s not about money and you know it. It’s an offer I can’t refuse. I’m afraid but I have to go. I’m so sorry. I really am. I love you and you know that but I come first. Always.”
” Fine. If you wanna go then go. I won’t stop you. Just go.
” Kevin!
” Please. Go well. Wishing you all the best.” He tried so hard to stop his tears from falling but I just couldn’t bare it. I ran to him and hugged him on the back. He didn’t say anything. He just embraced me and kissed my forehead. Finally there was a was a smile on his face.
” Let me take you home, Shine”
We went bowling together the next day and I bought him a big teddy bear. He was so excited about it like a baby. He just couldn’t stop blushing. After that we had dinner at his place. Then after one night of passion we had to face reality. He had to let me go.He sent me off . I hugged him tightly . Every moment I spent with him was priceless but we had to let each other go so we kissed each other goodbye.
