Abby became sweet to Nancy for the whole day but Nancy was still shaken after what happened.Could the rumours about Abby be correct,she asked herself.

But after a few days, everything became normal again.

“Ok class,for English this term we will be doing an assignment.But we will be doing it with pairs.I already have your pairs cause I will be the one pairing you.The assignment is due next week Friday and it’s out of 100,so you better start now.” Their class teacher,Miss Governor said.

She read the pair names and and Abby was paired with Stacy,and Nancy with Paige.

After school,when Abby and Nancy were getting out of class,Paige approached them.

“Are we meeting today at the library?” Paige asked Nancy.

“Sure,we need to discuss that assignment sooner than later.” Nancy said.

Later that day,Nancy met with Paige.While she was busy with her, someone hugged her.It was Abby

“Abby,what are you doing here?” Nancy asked.

“Is it a bad thing to miss my sweet bestie?” Abby said.

“Are you not meeting Stacy?” Nancy asked.

“No,she postponed.Anyways you can continue with whatever you were doing.I’ll just sit here and keep quiet.” Abby said plugging in her earphones.

The first term ended and the top 5 achievers list came out.The list was stuck on the wall of the principal’s office.

While Nancy and Abby were trying to pass through the crowd to the list, someone called Nancy’s name.Nancy turned and saw Paige.

“Congratulations, Nancy.” Paige said smiling.

“What are you talking about?” Nancy asked.

Paige pointed to the wall.

Nancy looked at the list and couldn’t believe her eyes.She was the top achiever in their grade.Paige the second, Millicent the third and Abby the fourth.

She looked around for Abby but couldn’t see her.She walked to her class and found Abby.

“I cannot believe I am the top achiever,who could’ve thought?” Nancy told Abby.

“Good for you.” Abby said.

“You were also on the list.Why don’t you look happy?”Nancy asked her.

Abby ignored her.
