Chapter 4: The Last Day – A Bittersweet Goodbye
Junior woke up early on the last day of camp, feeling a mix of emotions. He was excited to go home and see his family and friends, but he was also sad to leave behind the friends he had made at camp. And then there was Keletso, the grey tracksuit lady, who had captured his heart.
As he was packing his bags, Keletso came to his room and knocked on the door. “Junior, can I talk to you for a minute?” she asked, looking shy.
Junior’s heart skipped a beat as he opened the door. “Hey, Keletso. What’s up?”
Keletso smiled and handed him a piece of paper. “I wanted to give you my number before we leave. I know we didn’t get to talk much, but I enjoyed our conversations, and I’d like to stay in touch.”
Junior’s face lit up as he took the paper. “Thanks, Keletso! I’d love to stay in touch too.”
They stood there for a moment, looking at each other, before Keletso spoke up. “Well, I should get going. My parents are waiting for me.”
Junior nodded, feeling a pang of sadness. “Yeah, me too. It’s time to say goodbye.”
As they hugged each other tightly, Junior felt a sense of gratitude and happiness. “Thanks for everything, Keletso. You made my time at camp unforgettable.”
Keletso smiled and pulled back. “No, thank you, Junior. You made mine too. Let’s keep in touch, okay?”
Junior nodded, feeling a sense of hope and excitement for the future. “Definitely. Take care, Keletso.”
As they parted ways, Junior couldn’t help but feel a sense of bittersweet nostalgia. He was leaving behind the friends he had made at camp, but he was also taking with him the memories and the possibility of a new relationship.
As he boarded the bus to go home, Junior felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. What lay ahead? Only time would tell.
