Tsepo was dubious it was Asakhe’s home he was seeing. Outside there was a crowd of people. But as he approached near, he realised it really was. He spotted Mpendulo amongst the crowd and went to stand beside him. There were people holding back and reprimanding a gent who seemed eager to lay his hands on Asakhe. Tsepo guessed the angry gent to be the Hloni who had sent Asakhe the terrifying message. Asakhe was holding a baby whilst sorrowfully looking at the furious Hloni with teary eyes.
“Is Asakhe your girlfriend?” said Mpendulo.
Tsepo was hesitant to reply. He was annoyed by this guy who seemed to be close to his girlfriend. He thought he might be after her, or without his knowledge, dating her. Initially, he wished to say something rude in response to his question but soon realised he needed him now more than ever.
“I think so,” replied Tsepo. There was silence.
“Do you know of a way I can give her the cellphone?” he said, taking the cellphone out of his pocket.
“Sure…”
Mpendulo took the cellphone and called Palesa, one of Asakhe’s bestfriends. And before she snatched it off his hands, she casted a quick glance at Tsepo and went to give Asakhe her cellphone. Tsepo knew she must be one of Asakhe’s friends who talks about her boyfriend.
“Bro, what’s going on here?”
Tsepo finally had the courage to let loose the burning question.
“Your girlfriend is in trouble bro,” said Mpendulo.
Tsepo was anguished. This young belle who has captured his heart seems to have trouble lurking behind her.
Instead of hastily letting the cat out of the bag Mpendulo asked Tsepo to accompany him to his place to wear a jersey. They walked away, leaving the crowd behind.
